Just when it couldn't get any worse losing two in a row to contenders, the Cowboys do the unthinkable and lose to a winless team, it is over. Nothing left to do but talk about the next HC and the draft.
Was this not the perfect storm for a loss? Missing two OT's and one was playing the best ball of the five players. Let's add the Center has not been himself and is still in the process of coming back. Add to this the highest paid OL in the game with four of them in the top six paid at their position and you think they could have depth? Want to blame someone? Blame yourself for thinking that was no big thing. This was the one thing the Cowboys could not stand, weakness in their strength, the OL is the strength of the team.
We see the team without Cooper last season and we get to see it again yesterday, also missing the slot WR, and think that's no big thing?
That phrase, any given Sunday, was made for games like yesterday. Winless team with a QB returning from an illness and this was their SB for so early in the season. They had nothing to lose and felt they had a weakened offense and they are not a team without talent, I'd take that S tandem in a heartbeat. They set out to do two things, slow the RB down and beat the QB up and I'd say they did both.
The Jets wanted that game, needed that game more and they played like it. The Cowboys were not prepared for the difference the QB could make or the fight in that team. They thought this would be a warmup for the Eagles game.
They thought they could play the game that they are among the worst at playing, next man up. One missing starter can throw them off but take 4 off the offense and I don't think many teams that can play next man up will do it very well.
So, the Cowboys are tied for the lead and the season is over? If the Eagles fans feel the same way, might as well let the Giants sneak in and take it.
Nothing, nothing has changed. They are in control of their own destiny and will be playing for the lead in the division Sunday night. A division most likely to send one team to the playoffs and this game, if any Eagles game can be overstated, is the game. Come Sunday night, it won't matter what happened in September or yesterday, this is the game the Cowboys have to have because it's at home and they have to go to PHL in December and they've still got a rough schedule to go.
Let this one go as soon as you can because it has little bearing on the playoff race and this next game has everything to do with that. This game is the key to winning the division which is probably the only path to the playoffs.
