2a. Dwayne Jarrett, WR, USC- In this scenario we trade down at #22 and pickup an extra 2nd and 4th rounder. Jarrett is a big redzone target and plays the game fast, unlike his 40 time. We then use that 4th rounder to move up to select my next 2nd round selection...

2b. Anthony Spencer, DE/LB, Purdue- Spencer is a playmaker and may fill that Shaun Phillips void that Wade Phillips had in San Diego. We can't put all our eggs in one basket when it comes to Greg Ellis returning to form. In my opinion, Carpenter is better suited for the inside so Spencer can split time with Ellis on the outside linebacker position.

3. Allen Barbre, OT/OG, Missouri Southern St.- Dallas is high on this player and is moving up draft boards so we'll be lucky to get him here.

4. Paul Soliai, NT, Utah- He's the true NT that Wade Phillips is looking for. Over 340 pounds is nothing you want to mess with. He has work ethic and stamina issues, but he'll only be spelling Ferguson for now which means he'll be fresh most of the time.

5. Courtney Brown, CB, Cal Poly- I know Brown has been sliding up draft boards so he may not be here. But this is a mock draft so he will be there! Brown could be a second day steal for the Boys and would most likely replace Jacques Reeves for depth and could be a solid nickelback in due time.

6a. Le'Ron McClain, FB, Alabama- Jason Garrett loves those athletic fullbacks who can run and catch the football. McClain has tremendous hands out of the backfield and fits the bill perfectly.

6b. Jared Zabransky, QB, Boise St.- Makes poor decisions but other than that he has a lot of upside to be a solid backup for the Cowboys.

I pretty much gave up on the mock once it was said we traded down into the second and only picked up a 4th.

This looks to good to be true. Jarrett very well could fall to us at #22, but I honestly don't think Anthony Spencer will be there at 22, so I have an even harder time believing we'll land spencer in round 2. On top of that, I'm hoping Paul Solari is there in round 3, so I doubt he'll be there in round 4.

Spencer's my pick at #22. I think it's more unlikely he slides to the second than Jarret. My money says neither one of them does.

Too good to be true?

He traded our first for a 2nd and 4th. Then traded those picks to move up in the 2nd. In essence, he traded our first for a 2nd round pick -- straight up.

But if you land the guy you would've taken anyway, does it matter?

Uhhh ... YES!

We aren't Goodwill, you don't just trade to move down. You trade to get value. If you are getting no value, it's useless to trade in the first place. Stay where you are and get the players you want to begin with.
