The Vikings call Jerry Jones and the Cowboys and tell him that they want to move up in order to draft WR Cordarrelle Patterson.

Warmack, Cooper, Richardson and Vaccaro are all off the board. Dallas accepts the trade.

Dallas gets: MIN's #23 overall (1st round pick) and #83 overall (3rd round pick)

Minnesota gets: Dallas' #18 overall (1st round pick) and #151 overall (5th round pick)

#23 overall: Sylvester Williams, DT, North Carolina

A versatile and dominant lineman who has high character and can play at the 3 or 1 technique. Monte Kiffin approves. Sign me up.

#47 overall: Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor

A wide receiver, say what? I wouldn't be surprised if they grabbed the talented kid at this point. Dez has had nagging injuries in the past and we don't have to talk about the often-injured Austin. With Austin possibly in his last season as a Cowboy, it's never too soon to plan for the future. Williams is a legit deep threat who is also a willing blocker; he actually reminds me of a younger Miles.

#80 overall: David Quessenberry, OL, San Jose State

A late riser on draft boards and could compete immediately for a starting job at guard or even tackle.

#83 overall: Le'Veon Bell, RB, Michigan State

He's been my pet cat since the beginning and I really hope he's a Cowboy seven days from now. A workhorse-type back who can carry the load if necessary; a great receiver and blocker as well.

#114 overall: J.J. Wilcox, S, Georgia Southern

Another small school safety with upside who will compete with Matt Johnson for the starting FS job. Can play both safety spots and may be a factor in the return game.

#171 overall: Dion Sims, TE, Michigan State

A prototypical blocking tight end who the Cowboys have interest in. A definite need.

Please leave your thoughts and comments, guys and gals!

Only 6 days away!!! :star:

If they trade down, I would really like to get an extra pick, not just trade a 5th for a 3rd.

I like Quessenberry, but #80 is early for him, especially consider all of the proven but injured OL that are going to be available somewhere in that range (Chris Faulk, Dallas Thomas, Barrett Jones, Brennen Williams).

Also, I would be disappointed if
Quessenberry was the only OL drafted.

Maybe Dallas could get a future draft pick out of Minnesota, but according to the trade chart, it's pretty even, and the Cowboys still get the guy they would have drafted at #18 anyway.

I definitely think Dallas will sign Tyson Clabo after the draft and maybe the Cowboys target another OL in the draft, but I'd be pretty happy with the scenario. That's just me though.

Also, what's the story with the Avatar ? It seems like it is a picture of yourself; however, it seems like you had black guy as your Avatar in the past?

I like the Wilcox pick, but do you think he'll be there in the 4th? I've been reading that some teams really like him and might take him a lot earlier than that. Obviously if he's there in the 4th and he hasn't been taken we better be all over that.

I like it, but agree with walker. 3rd for Quessenberry is too high for me, though I like the prospect. I'd hope Bailey was there. If not, I'd still take Thomas, Faulk, and possibly Barret Jones before him.

I love the first two picks.

Haha not sure about the black guy, but the current picture is me.

It's possible he could be taken in the 3rd. I think he'd be an awesome fit in Kiffin's scheme.

You may be right in it being too high for Quessenberry, but his stock has been rising as of late.

Hopefully, you can take some humor, but when I see your Avatar, I think some unfortunate guy mistook this for a gay dating website.

I'm not saying that you are, or did, or that there is anything wrong with that, but it's just the thought that comes to mind.

I wouldn't mind that scenario at all, although I would probably choose some different players.

With pick #23 I'd love to get Datone Jones. He has been rising a lot in my estimation because he can play DT in passing situations and SDE on run downs. The guy is only about 10 pounds lighter than Sheldon Richardson but is considerably more sudden. The guy is quick as hell.

I just think that Kiffin and Marinelli could really use someone with that kind of athleticism and versatility. He'd fit here like a glove.

Jones could give Spencer a break when he needs it, and when Ware needs a break you could move Spencer over to the weakside and put Jones on the strongside. Of course, Jones would play the 3-tech on passing downs like he did at UCLA. Just a perfect fit and I'm starting to like him almost as much as Richardson.

Plus, I think he'd still be there at #23.

I like Datone Jones a great deal, too.

I know Werner and Carradine have gotten more pub as late first rounders as of late but part of me thinks that Jones combination of excellent quickness, extra bulk and versatility make him a better fit for this defense.

I think it is within the realm of possibility that he could add 10 more pounds and end up playing 3-tech full-time if we find other players to play DE. Right now we seem to have a bigger need at DE so it makes sense to keep him out there but maybe as he ages he could move inside.

I don't know how committed the team is to Matt Johnson at Safety but part of me thinks we should maybe be focusing on getting a good OL and Safety in the second and third rounds. Ideally we have another pick in that range to pick a WR and can find a RB later in the draft to backup Murray.

Walk get back onto the draft you are crossing the double white lines. I never thought along the lines you are heading and the ditch gets deep real quick.

With his versatility and our number of line questions I agree he's a great fit. If he's the choice at #18 I'm fine with it. There's so little talk about him I wouldn't be surprised if he gets taken in the early teens as a "whoa!" pick like Tyson Alualu.

I hope not, I want Dallas to at lest have the opportunity to draft the guy. I do think he will be there in the 20's, but you could be right and he be a surprise early pick.

Love the first two and last two picks.

I'm torn on Bell, because I'm not sure how the new rules will impact the big physical rb's.

Yeah, I'm not sure what to say...back to the draft? :laugh2:

Good point, but I like Bell mainly because he can carry the ball 20-25 times a game if/when Murray is banged up. There's no way I'm drafting a "change of pace" RB.

Datone Jones is interesting but I'd only consider him in a trade down scenario.
