Without conflict, a narrative does not work.

"Conflict" in sports media is also known as "click bait." Screamers like Steven A. Smith lure a lof people in. Then there are folks like me who see his face or read his name and avoid.

Stephen a smith and Bayless are paid trolls. It's a big act. They're sent out there to play devils advocate and act ridiculous. I don't know why anyone find either entertaining.

I find them quite entertaining. I like Stephen A. Smith. At least he's honest about not liking the Cowboys.

True (about him being honest about his dislike), but I can't respect a grown man whose schtick is acting like a petulant, belligerent, blowhard.

That's just it, it's a schtick, which is why I find it entertaining. But he has his serious times too. I think he's quite good, actually.

It's not hard to criticize and make fun of Cowboys fans.

Face it, we're largely comprised of the most pathetic lot of bandwagoners and know-nothings on the planet.

I often wished I loved another team instead. But I don't, sooooo........

Normally I'm very supportive of the local Dallas sportswriters and broadcasters but Skippy was always difficult to align with for me.

I agree Stephen A is a tough voice to listen although I do more often agree with him over Bayless.

Stephen A should really stick to Hoops which is where he got his start.

Lol, well, I suppose if that's the perspective you're taking, then yes, SAS is the best in the business at what he does.

I didn't say he was the best in the business. But I think he's good at what he does. I like him. He is very articulate and speaks his point extremely well. But he's also entertaining to me, and I don't take him seriously when he talks about his dislike for the Cowboys and them always finding a way to "blow" it.

But different strokes for different folks.

I was being sarcastic and meant it tongue in cheek.

I have traveled to several venues around the NFL and the Cowboys are not the most loyal diehards in the bunch. I was much more impressed in cities like Detroit and New Orleans which when I was there in 1989 and early 90's still had bags over their heads.

Green Bay truly defines everything that is great about the NFL.

Dallas is a winners city as Troy defined so well. I haven't been a season ticket holder since Texas Stadium but I found that crowd going back to 1971 to be more serious , courteous and sober fan base than any other city or venue I attended .

Wine and cheese crowd as were defined now reflects the higher affluent customer Jerry is attracting with more corporate season ticket holders who aren't of the more diehard variety we had at Texas Stadium.

I'm not sure I'd define them as " know nothings" but without supporting the loyalty for losing we see across the country. Most of all we aren't as supportive of a losing culture. I've often said we will complain all the way to the bank.

The late 80's were a great example. With all of the success our franchise enjoyed within 2 or 3 years of losing we were seeing half empty stadium with local blackouts and the franchise on the verge of bankruptcy.

I think we get a bad rap as far as the bandwagon. We haven't been on the big stage in over two decades, but we still build our fanbase with each generation. Guys like Dak Prescott who was about 3 years old the last time we won it all still grew up a Cowboys fan. He was tweeting about us 4 years ago. My seven year old niece is a fan and I swear I never encouraged her. I tend to spend gameday away from family so she didn't get it from me. We live in Michigan so I don't know how she came to be a Cowboys fan. The Cowboys are on TV a lot so maybe that's it. Anyway, it can't be a bandwagon at this point. There's an allure to the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. Like my niece likes to say, "I love that Dallas Cowboys star!"

That's actually more logical to me. You wouldn't keep going to a restaurant that served bad food so why keep giving money to a 1-15 franchise? I get the community loyalty and all that, but at some point you're just being a fool and the team knows that improvement is not necessary because you're going to show up no matter what. I also look at the Cowboys fanbase as more international than local so when I assess the fanbase I'm including the whole country and the world. For example, Cowboys fans in Mexico and England are quite enthusiastic.

In Detroit your not getting that national or international fanbase. They live each week for the hope of an upset in beating a rival or playing spoilers role.

If they would have Romo this era it would have been the greatest era ever in Lions history.

Her locally , the Cowboys represent your community, city , area and state. They can be a reflection of pride. Much is attached.

While it's much about winning it's also about how you conduct your business. While once we were known as the best run or most respected franchise now we're known for just the highest revenue .

It's like I have often said that we've sold our souls for those 3 rings. Our history has been forever changed with how that enabled Jerry to change our course in history. Some for the better and some for the worse . All depends on your outlook and perception.

I still believe you can have the best stadium, best headquarters, biggest fanbase, most revenue and still win championships. We just haven't achieved the latter of late. If we win one modern day Super Bowl, everyone will be slobbering all over the Jones family for having the best of everything. And I'm not just talking about Cowboys fans either.

Could be but for now the Jone$ model of building a team is not being copied by other teams like their revenue generating ways.

And by model I'm referring to their front office and coaching methods.
