I’m sure Jerry will get all new wide receivers. Will he ever figure out the cowboys win when we have the best linemen?

it’s why Emmit and Troy did so well.

Lol go back and look at our 1st/2nd round picks over the last decade, I bet close to half have been lineman.

this team has issues, but putting resources towards the trenches is low on the list. Outside of the DT position, which they’ve failed heavily I’d say they’ve done a pretty good job.

The offensive line has been on a downward trajectory for some time now. Zero confidence here in Tyron Smith's reliability. The real problem is the defense though. The team could spend 100% of its draft capital on defense, and still not have a championship level unit. The D is the glaring weakness, and has been for a long time.

Water is wet.

But really I think the OL is not far off. Not everyone is going to end up on IR next season. And a couple of the young kids have proven they can play.

DE is not bad.

DT is the target.

Agree. DE is fine and DT is where we need a really stout NT.

For OL the team is saying Tyron and Collins will both be back 100%. I want to spend some of the later picks on project OTs but I think you can make an argument that McGovern, Looney, Knight and Steele will be better backups than most teams will have next year.

I'm hopeful his surgery might fix some things. We'll see.
We have no choice.

I'm not happy with our DEs. Our pass rush sucks. 24 sacks so far, 20th in the league. Pittsburgh is at top with 45.

Our only good DL is DLaw and he's not known for his pass rush skills. Gregory has shown flashes but you're drinking kool-aid if you're gonna count on him going into next year. After that we've got Aldon Smith but meh and he's gonna be a free agent. He's not someone I'm looking to build around or count on.

We're worse off at DT because they all suck but let's not act like another good DE or edge would be unnecessary.

The whole defense could use talent injections.

Not even gonna read anything. You are exactly correct. Trenches. Put the best resources THERE.

If Gregory could actually get through an offseason in a pro weight training program he could be something. It’s the “if” with him!

draft the offense of side of the ball,Trade free agent for the defensive side

OL will not be drafted

Smith, Collins, Knight, Steele
Martin, Williams, McGovern
Biadasz

They likely bring Looney or Redmond back on a cheap deal that’s your 9-10

One DT in the first two rounds going back to 2006, and that was Hill at 58.

They haven't failed at DT as much as they haven't tried.

Some failure at DE. Taco was a big one. No success with Armstrong or Tapper. But some with Gregory and DLaw.

I wouldnt hate an upgrade at DE, but its pretty far down the priority list. Honestly i think if you can find respectable DTs your pass rush is really good with the current DE group. Without a threat up the middle it makes it too easy for offenses to block those edge rushers, and too easy for a QB to step up in the pocket to avoid their rush. I think addressing that position alone has a major trickle down effect on most of the defense.

you're not wrong, and im hopeful that the rod marinelli thought process of we can always find a high motor guy and coach em up is a thing of the past. We had a few hits with Jason Hatcher, even Crawford for a year was really good, but overall has been pretty sad. I'm hopeful with taking Hill 2 years ago, and Gallimore last year that they finally recognize the need, but i also worry that Jerry thinks hes spend two top half of the draft picks on DTs the last two years so his job is done for the position. Both Hill and Gallimore have shown that they could be useful rotational pieces so far, but i cant trust either for 30+ snaps a game.

This.

The biggest problem with the pass rush is the lack of anything from DT... Improve that (the position) and the DE's will pick up more sacks.

It sucks that there is not stud DT they can be used with a high 1st rd pick this year

We didn't win when we had the best offensive line a few years ago. Shrug.
