They're sleeping on our defense...

And I love it. Everyone is talking about how the Eagles are going to bring this and that on defense and it'll be harder on Romo to score than it was last week, but everybody seems to be forgetting that we would've beaten them with a single field goal last week.

The Eagles offense cannot score on us. We weren't even playing nearly as well when we held them to 17 as we are now. They will be lucky if they score 10 points Saturday night. Now that they realize max protecting and running 2 man routes didn't work last week, they'll spread us out like New Orleans tried to do, and Ware, Spencer, and Ratliff will eat their o-line alive.

They will continue to do so and when we do have a shootout, it will be viewed as a fluke.

This defense simply is not dominant. When people think great defense, they think of the Steel Curtain, 80s Bears or the Ravens. Even our Super Bowl defenses in the early 1990s were not considered all that great. I believe one of the nicknames was the "Choke Them Until They Turn Blue" defense. Those defenses were not flashy, did not set defensive scoring records or score a lot themselves. Our Doomsday Defenses of the 1970s had a fearsome pass rush and made plays. This version is quiet and does not make a lot of noise. It is no wonder they do not get respected. They do not make plays, they keep from giving them up though. That simply is not sexy enough.

I doubt it.

Troy Aikman mentioned that during the 1st Game, the Eagles blitzed 59% of the time.

In the 2nd Game, I am not sure what the blitz percentage was, but it was very scaled back.

Sean McDermott was criticized for not being aggressive enough during the 2nd game.

I believe Sean McDermott is a little confused on just how to attack the Cowboys defense.

They can if they hit the big play.

It may not be "great" but its the best in the NFC and thats all that matters right now.

How do they blitz when they can't stop the run. They have to stop the run if they want to blitz heavily. We will see if they can do that Saturday.

Everybody continues to talk about it but leave out that fact.

The Eagles can score if they just simply throw to the middle of the field and use there tightend the most. For some reason the Boys have a difficult time keeping the middle of the field closes off

Speaking of Troy... I always record the games on the radio and listen to them later, and Babe Laufenberg said early in the broadcast that "Someone near and dear to me told me before the game that even if the Cowboys win today, I still think the Eagles are the better team." Babe and Brad could barely believe that considering we'd have the same record as them and would've swept them with a win.

Any good guesses on who that person could be? Oops, I guess I gave away who I think it is.

And I guess we'll also see if Brad comes in to spank me for being wrong. ;)

Back to the thread, no, we aren't going to shut every team out. But usually, 17 points should be enough. We'll still have a great chance if our O stays efficient and doesn't turn it over.

People are kidding themselves if they think the Eagles can not score on our D. I expect Saturday to more like the first meeting.

I would agree. I don't expect any defense to shut teams out but I do think it will be hard for Philly to put a lot of points up against this defense.

I agree. I do not think they can run the score up on us if we are playing well. But if the D is off and McNabb and his WRs are hot then sure they could.

Sure anything could happen. I think this defense though is developing into a great defense. Guys are still showing improvement, even vs SD this defense held their own. I think this group is playing with great confidence and the talent is rising to the top. I think a big part of that is how Spencer has been able to elevate his game giving Dallas yet another play maker on the defensive side.

I love the way our D is coming around and think it is the best in the division.

I guess it is a mistype , Mcdermott is not going to attack the Defense but Offense , LOL !

Part reason for eagles going little easy on the blitz was the early runs by Barber and Felix, IMO.

I think he's more than a little confused. He's tried everything, and we've been ready for it. But I expect them to go down swinging, if they're gonna lose they're gonna bring it this weekend. Our WRs should get some really good 1 on 1 matchups, and they're going to have to win them.

Those are the point totals teams have scored against us. Discounting the Commanders, those point totals belong to the 2 seed in the AFC, the 1 seed in the NFC, and an Eagles team that set a single season scoring record for themselves in 15 games.

I stand by my conviction. People are sleeping on our defense, and I love it. This is the first time in a long time where we are on the dominant end of the rivalry between these two teams, and it's the Eagles who have something to prove, not us.

It's easy to say the Eagles can score on our D if they hit the big plays. The problem is, our defense gets a say in whether or not they hit those big plays.

I was looking at the NFL defensive stats this morning and noticed that Green Bay's defense has forced 40 turnovers. 40!!! That's a crazy number. I know their competition hasn't been the level of the Cowboys, however, the level headed part of me isn't so quick to call the Dallas D the clear cut #1 in the NFC.

I agree. McNabb wants to do a 7 step drop looking to hit the deep ball be my guest because I think the way Ware,Ratliff and Spencer as well as a blitzing LB from time to time is getting after QB's we have a good chance to make some big plays on defense.
