In 1990, the Cowboys started 3-7 and got to 7-7. They only needed one more win in the last two games to make the playoffs, but Aikman was hurt the next week against Philly and they dropped both games.

It is due to not watching other teams play full games. It is usually personal impressions obtained either from watching highlights of other games or reading box scores.
I can’t imagine this defense putting up much resistance against Burrow, but if they do, the noise will be deafening.

Repeat of 1990. They were 3-7. Won 4 in a row to get to 7-7. Needed 1 win to make the playoffs. Aikman got hurt and the lost the last 2 games.
They even had a chance to get in at 7-9. But the Saints beat the Rams and they got in at 8-8.

However I think they may need to win out this time, or have several other teams lose around 4 more games each.
Oh I remember that like it was yesterday, Babe Lauenburg was horrible and killed all playoff hopes and the Rams let us down too.

Funny you mention. I thought of that season this morning. They beat the Rams in Anaheim in November and that game was the beginning of what became the great teams of that era IMO.

The finale in Atlanta was the last time I didn’t see a Cowboys game live. Had to work. Yes, they still had a shot with the Monday night game. A friend from work said they’d be better off not making the playoffs as it would throw them off the trajectory toward greatness. Maybe he was right.

Major difference between now and then….in 1990 the arrow was pointed big time upward, with a hundred bullets. Now, not so much.

And Tampa Bay? Certainly have no business assuming they are ‘beatable”. Ask the Lions and the Eagles.

This could be the most bizarre finish in the history of football for the Dallas Cowboys. After starting 3-7 the Cowboys could easily get to 7-7 after 14 games and be in position to make a playoff run with three games left in the season. The Cowboys should beat the Giants, Panthers, and Bengals and have a four game winning streak going into the Bucs game and if they win that it will make five in a row and put them at 8-7 with two games remaining in the season so can the Cowboys go on a massive run and finish 10-7 and get into the playoffs? We shall see.
Wait, why should we beat the Bengals? Their offense will run rampant on our defense. Bengals should be double digit favorites in that game. Their offense have weapons all over the field.

Giants? Sure. They are garbage every year and we own them.

Panthers? We probably should but Bryce Young can move that offense at times. They almost knocked off KC.

and this is how Jerry Jones goes 28 years without competing for championships.

Blind, unwarranted hope.

Man...would love to have mayfield on this team right now. And FYI...as a Buckeye I HAVE hated him!

The planting of the flag? I get it when your rooting against him he's annoying. That guy has balls the size of texas though. Would love to have him
