Things I liked:
  • The rhythm we found at the end of the 1st beginning of the 2nd qtr on our first TD.
  • The first Dez TD. Soon as the ball left Tony's hand I'm like "no way he makes that catch"...i was wrong.
  • Romo getting the team up quickly and running a play after the questionable Williams sideline catch...no chance for SD to throw a red flag, Tony recognizing the situation.
  • Murray seemed to get decent chunks of yardage in the first half running...too bad we got away from it.
  • Our penalties were minimal.
  • The Sean Lee pick 6...dude had a convoy out in front of him. That's the kind of stuff the Bears do. Thanks Rod.
  • Ed Hoch chiseled as usual.
Things I didn't like:
  • The drops we had.
  • The 56 yd FG attempt. When I saw Bailey hit the field I immediately did not like the call. It was a tight game, after the missed 3rd down conversion I was thinking "lets pin them deep, flip the field" no way was I thinking FG there. I trust Bailey a lot...that wasn't the time. I don't know if that is Red trying to generate something but I don't think he understood "the feel of the game" at the point.
  • No pressure on Rivers. That guy can go mental if he is disturbed. To the point where he tees off on his own guys and loses site of the game. He is a red ***. We didn't turn him into one.
  • You're telling me we couldn't punch the ball out once from Ryan Mathews? a known fumbler? Didn't like that we couldn't find a way.
  • I know we weren't on the field much offensively but we got away from almost 6 yards a carry in the run game in the second half.
  • No defensive adjustment in game.
  • I love our blue jerseys, we look great in them...but I'm from the old school and I believe in the jinx. Even my mom texted me and said "oh crap...blue jerseys." You'll never change my mind on that.
  • I didn't like that all I kept thinking most of the game "it's hot, we're wearing our dark blues and the D has been on the field FOREVER." We're tired and in trouble late.
  • No flag on the clear delay of game on SD late in the game that would have forced a longer 3rd down.
  • No flag on a clear holding choke hold on a SD score.
  • Mo Claiborne, not much to say other than....what the bleepin bleep.
Things I thought about:
  • We have leaders on this team. Too many of the same kind of leader. The closest thing we have to a "voice the disturbs the waters but without turning it into a circus" internally is Hatcher.
  • Was Monte disturbed by his son getting fired at the airport about 12 hours earlier?
  • Instead of taking command of the division we have given hope to opponents. Gints, Egirls and Deadskins are all thinking the same "we have a chance still."
  • I see a lot of Romo talk about throwing into double coverage and dink and dunk. It's a no win situation for Romo. If he dinks and dunks to lessen turnovers he sucks, if he throws into double coverage to force it to Dez and gets picked he sucks. My feeling...throw it to Dez like Stafford to Johnson. Let Dez make it happen, live with the picks if you have too. I think Dez wins more of those situations than loses.
  • The fumble Williams had did not lose the game for us. It lost the chance for us to come back. I know what he's trying to do, we all do, but the kid just has to eat it and run the next play.
Out of spite I'm calling that we beat Denver.

Another thought:

Someday, we're going to actually take command of a situation (winning a game for the division, winning a game to take command of the division, etc) when it lies before us. Someday that is going to happen. When that happens maybe we get our 6th trophy.

I wouldn't diminish the magnitude of the damage caused by Williams fumble at the goal line. It may not have directly caused us to lose, but it certainly kept us out of the end zone and ensured we couldn't win. Hopefully TW can put it behind him, though, because we need a big game from him to beat Denver.

Nice post, good call on Hochuli lol

And I agree with the point about Williams. You can never excuse a fumble, but in this case, he was trying to make a play. The "reach for the goalline trying to score" fumble is one that I can live with from a rook. Down 11 late in the 4th quarter, someone has to try to make a play, and that's what happened.

He doesn't fumble and its a non-issue whether he reached for the goalline or not.
