Just rewatched the game.

Things I liked:
  • Barry Church laying the wood on the 3rd play of the game on a no catch.
  • Escobar fade in the endzone. With his hands this could be a great "alternative fade" choice. Dez on one side, Escobar on the other.
  • Consistent pressure by the D line, two weeks in a row I felt we got good interior pressure. Hatcher is really coming on.
  • Not just sacks, but what I call mayhem. Defense created mayhem consistently. Bradford was never comfortable.
  • DWare handling Jake Long, putting him on his can.
  • Beasley getting some time on the field.
  • Escobar up the seam for a TD.
  • Dunbar's first carry with both hands on the ball. Hope his handful of carries this game restored his and our confidence.
  • Defense is always flying around the ball.
  • Running to setup the pass.
  • Romo having a good amount of time to make his reads.
  • The bookends, Smith and Free handled their business nicely.
  • The Romo to Harris TD. Incredible throw...great concentration by Harris. Romo threw that ball through a window the size of a shot glass.
  • Mo timing the pass correctly on a endzone throw near the end of the game. Still competing despite being up big.
Thing I liked the most:
  • We didn't get cute. We kept running the ball, basically we said "we're going to keep running this until you can show that you can stop it." The Rams couldn't stop it so we kept with it.

Things I didn't like:
  • I was critical of Murray last week, agreeing that he was "running to darkness." He had a great day, however, I felt two early runs in the first quarter he ran to darkness again. The first run of the game I felt he ran up Miles' backside on a block instead of just running right past those guys. The second was a little later when he ran up behind Williams blocking...same deal, felt he could have ran past.
  • Bailey FG miss. Actually shocked me. Hope that is a throw away miss that gets out of his system in a game we had fully under control.
  • JJ Wilcox' INT not counting, jumped out of my seat when he made the pick. Was excited for him.
  • The armbar penalty on Mo...I felt the ball was uncatchable for the WR.
After the game was over Sunday I really felt that this was the most balanced, complete game on both sides of the ball that we have played in a long time. If we can continue to keep that balance we are going to be competitive each week and be difficult to play against. I think we're building a little "our house is tough for the opponent to play in" too. Long way to go on that but I think it is there a little.

Well, have at it.

what we need is consistency not flashes of it, so far we see one or two of these games a season and left scratching our heads. Can Jason put it together for a run or something is what im asking. We can all love these flash games, but like other good teams, i need it done on a regular basis. Heres to hoping Jason started something but im not getting excited yet.

This is what I've talked about for years. If you put enough pressure on the OL across the board then it is more likely to crack. Look at Doomsday, Steel Curtain, Purple People Eaters, yada. Push all across the front line and front seven. Ware should have a good year with the QB not being able to step up to elude one pass rusher.
  • Defense is always flying around the ball. You have to swarm in this D. Another reason you're seeing more turnovers as well.
  • Running to setup the pass. You have to be able to run in this offense esp up the middle.
  • Romo having a good amount of time to make his reads. He doesn't know what to do with all that time. The OC needs to have more intermediate and long routes in the game plan then use them.

I liked that we seemed to keep the pedal down for the most part instead of going into super-conservative prevent mode.

And I can't get over how good that throw to Harris was. Man, talk about a laser.

Murray is good but not spectacular. He lacks vision and has issues running into his own players and sometimes misses openings. I just hope they start increasing Dunbar's reps.. Having said all that Murray still had a very good day, obviously..

Nice post. Two things I didn't like...go back and look at the two plays before the fade pass to Escobar.

1st down: it looks like Murray has the corner for the easy TD. He looked tired on this play but if T-Will makes a better block on Jenkins then he strolls in and we have a 14-0 lead. Poor effort there from the rookie IMO.

2nd down: Murray looks like he's found the hole on an inside run and is about to stroll in again, but Waters gets blown up and the d-tackle trips up Murray at the one. Waters progression into regular form has been slower than I expected.

Poor blocking on both plays cost us 4 points BUT I think an elite running back still scores on both plays despite the poor blocking. I'm ready for Randle to get up to speed.

I too would like to see Randle get into the mix. I'm sure with time he will.

Going back to your initial point I can't disagree. What I would have liked to have seen on 1st down is maybe Dunbar on that run instead. His quicks probably could have got the corner against a Rams D that was tired due to all the previous runs and yes, Murray may have been tired himself.

I am excited about Escobar being a endzone fade option. Could force defenses to have to choose who to cover if both Dez AND Esco can execute the play.

Im not sure why nobody understands that the Bailey miss was tipped at the line. Bailey told his coach that instantly showing it was tipped. I saw it when i slo moed it.

Missed FG was tipped no?

Yeah I looked at it in slow-mo and it was definitely tipped by one of the rushers coming off the left edge. That kick is good otherwise IMO. We really need to do a better job of containing the edges.

Yes.

We need to perfect fade with someone.

We need to get consistent push up the middle. Most qbs don't do well moving side to side. Plus we can push them into a defender coming off the corner.

Mayhem. Agreed.

Suprised you did not mention Harris fumble on the 1st punt return.

I'd rather have a kicker miss than a kick get blocked. That's way more concerning, imo.

And I thought Harris could have taken the fake punt to the house if he could have just corralled it.
Glad to see him bounce back with the td catch later in the game.
Overall a very complete game by the boys

I agree. He made a mistake but kept his head in the game and redeemed himself.

Things you really, really, really would have disliked: the cowboys lose to a run-of-the-mill team.
