Things I want Jerry NOT to do

1. Jason Garrett- Since he is firing not him, don't sign to extension either. Make this next 'lame duck' season goal playoffs plus 1 win at least or you are gone.
2. Jason Hatcher- don't make him highest paid DT in league.
3. Dan Bailey- don't let this man wear another uniform. I'm seriously considering buying his jersey for next season. Most consistent Cowboy player last few years.
4. Don't have your draft board leaked.
5. Don't draft a TE in any round, especially 2nd.
6. Don't forget to sign DNR legal form.

As a FSU fan, I would say: you don't know what you have in a kicker until he is gone!
I don't know about 4mil… but he should be paid well as long as he continues to make fg's.

7. Do not trade out of first round pick, love the Frederick pick, and T. Williams as a bonus [mostly hindsight] but understood it at the time.
Anyway, use it this year for a stud DT, 2nd round, DE or even another DT. No trade downs.

The Cowboys have had a number of kickers over the years that have been lights out for a year or two...Boniol, Cunningham, Tim Seder had a nice run, and even Nick Folk was awesome when he started. Kickers fall off sometimes for seemingly no reason...look at Vanderclank.

In terms of productivity, a great kicker is only marginally better than an average one, so paying top dollar doesn't make all that much sense, imo.
