Things that don't make sense about this Dez situation

Questions that need answers, hopefully today.

1. Why in the world is Dez' agent not in the room today? Rock Nation is a horrible representative for players.

2. Releasing Dez would be dumb. There have to be multiple teams willing to trade for that contract, especially with the front-end money already paid. With the right QB, it'd be worth it for another team. Could that be what we hear today?

3. Why have months passed with no conversation between the team and Dez' representatives? Do the Cowboys have any idea what they even want to do?

4. What was with the route-running guru? What came of that?

5. It seems there must be something in the background that has happened or been there all along that we don't know about. They knew about Dez when they drafted him. Why get rid of him when he finally semi-grew up?

6. Why has Dak been so silent through it all? Is he Brutus?

7. Why have the players, in general, been virtually mum? Especially the receivers.

Maybe it makes perfect sense.

Maybe the agent isn't in the office because they know Dallas has no intention of asking him to take a pay cut. Or a restructure. Or maybe that's already been hashed out and today's meeting is just Jerry and Dez hammering out things Jerry wants to see Dez improve on, etc.

You guys have wasted brain cells trying to figure this thing out and it's kind of funny at this point watching the mouse running on the wheel in your brains.

Because they don't want to be the next one jettisoned for speaking their minds. That's all this is. Dez came out and called out the scheme, now he is going. Does it not make sense to most here that Linehan has gained a lot more power here, and with that Dez is going thru this? Its not hard to understand. Anyone on this team who calls out the scheme and isn't toting the company line is gone.

1. Jerry and Dez are close. If a restructure, can always get an agent on the phone or if it's cut, sure Jerry doesn't need his agent to tell him they are moving on.
2. Sure he won't be a free agent for long if cut today.
3. Based off their FA activity and draft invites, I think they have a main plan and fallback plan.
4. Nothing yet. All talk
5. Production, or lack thereof with a huge cap hit. Remember, theyy were dragging their feet on a long term deal in 15.
6. Thought he had some PC statement on Dez when the offseason started. Can't find anything though.
7. Well, one spoke up. Bease IIRC has been supportive of Dez.

Except that every single beat reporter in Dallas, as well as Mike Fisher (Dez' closest media confidant), are saying exactly the opposite.

Saying the opposite of what?

That the Cowboys aren't going to ask for a pay cut, or release him. The local media is almost unanimous that it's pay cut offer at best, outright release at worst.

I thought fir the longest time that Dez was staying, but the last minute timing of this has me starting to think that he's just sitting down with Jerry in a respectful manner of telling him he's being released.

No asking for a paycut, no trade, just letting him go.

Not that I agree with that - at all - but just the feeling I get based on the whole last minute nature of this thing. If there was any other sort of a "plan", I don't see them waiting until the weekend before offseason workouts start.

I don't see any sense to it, but that's what it's looking like based on the timing and who is and isn't involved in this meeting.

The main question I have is are we ok with Hurns and TWIll as our top 2 WR's this year? If so, we re in big trouble.

I think you know that answer. Nobody on this team is replacing Dez Bryant. And no rookie out of the draft is either.

I suspect Dez has no intention of taking less money and the Cowboys know it.

Don't worry. We'll use a first round pick on a WR, people will project he'll be better than Dez and then like many first round WRs do............ he'll fail to live up to expectations as a rookie.

The Romo chat all over again. Perhaps, you're right.

Clear the path for Dak to develop unhindered and unbothered.

Good possibility.

It’s all been media hyped to death and probably nothing will happen. But that won’t stop the hype continuing.

Please stop with this nonsense
Dez is not taking a pay cut and jbky an idiot would cut Dez (if course the jones meet this criteria so you never know)

The objective of the meeting should be to encourage Dez to be disciplined, learn the playbook and routes, more practice with Dak, don't be a hot head and stay calm if you don't get the ball
