Some consider the 2005 season a disappointment, some consider it somewhat successful. I think that we could be ready to make a push next season because of what we did this season. There is a lot of room for improvement here and we must capatalize on it this offseason. Here is a list of what must be improved (feel free to add to this list).

Thigns that were good:
1.) Experience winning close games.
2.) Nine wins after a 6-10 season.
3.) Passing game improved.
4.) Defense made clutch plays.
5.) Ability to bounce back after tough losses.
6.) JJ and Ware finished the season off strong.
7.) Terry Glenn made it through an entire season. :D
(There were more good things, but I'm going to concentrate on the things that need improvement)

Things that must be improved:
1.) Offensive Line-No matter what position it is, we need to acquire more talent in this area. Giving up 49 sacks and still winning 9 games is absurd. Imagine if we could control the line better and get more than 3.6 YPC (league worst was 3.4)

2.) Consistency-No team was more inconsistent than the Cowboys were in 2005. We averaged 24.8 points per game during the midseason stretch. The last two games, all we could get was 17 points (granted the Rams game shouldn't even count). To end the season we averaged 20.3 points per game (15th in the league). During our late season slump the defense gave up 24 PPG after starting the season with a 7-3 record.

3.) Deep Coverage-Improving this part of the team will be key to next season. I love Keith Davis but we have to get someone back there that knows how to cover and can run with the receivers. This part of the team might have cost us a few games this year. FA or the draft, this must be addressed.

4.) Ability to close out a game-My heart won't be able to take much more if they keep playing like they did this year. 11 games this season were determined by a TD or less. If they keep this up, I won't live to see 30.

5.) Gameplan adjustments (gametime and weekly)-Nothing frustrated me more than seeing something work with our team and the coaching staff completely went away from it. It seems like other teams could make adjustments at halftime, but we were still going along with the original gameplan. Get some creativity already.

6.) Special Teams-Tyson Thompson did an admirable job, even though a lot of people dont like him on this board. He might not have any moves, but he set franchise records with 57 returns for 1399 yards. However he needs to improve his ball carrying. McBriar did pretty good. KICKER-draft or free agency, this has to be addressed. If i see another 30 yd FG missed, I am gonna go insane.

7.) Depth-We did a good job last offseason getting depth, and this year we need to build upon that. We need players that can step in for us no matter who goes down. That means get more O-linemen, more speed at receiver in case TG or Key goes down, more LB's, more safety backup, etc....

8.) Effort against the foreskins-Nuff said.

(Can't think of anything else right off the bat, so feel free to add)

Keys to the OFF-season

1.) One thing that was key to this offseason was making sure that Parcells stayed in Dallas. No matter how much you dislike him, there was no coach out there available that was any better. Parcells can develop talent and knows how to manage a game.

2.) Drafting-we need to draft for BPA. Teams usually take the wrong approach drafting for need and that is what we need to avoid. I say whoever is best (according to our scouts and BP), when our choice rolls around draft them. We don't have to get a WR in this years draft, but i think if not this year, next year definitely (Calvin Johnson and Ted Ginn Jr. are the ones i hope we target, if they come out).

3.) Free Agency-Need more depth and a few new starters. We need more LB's, a FS that can cover, and the O-line MUST be improved through FA. I would like to see a few players like LeCharles Bentley put a star on their helmets. If me must sign TO, make sure it is only for one year (hopefully we stay away from him). No high priced FA's are needed but I would welcome them anyway.

4.) Strength and Conditioning program-with 10 rookies on the roster, this part of the offseason is vital. I can't wait to see Ware, Spears, Canty, Barber, and the others get more strength. This team could be scary next year. I would say the whole team needs to improve their stamina. Roy could stand to lose a few pounds and Canty could put on a few pounds.

Positives for next year:

1.) More 3-4 experience means better defense and more creative schemes (hopefully).

2.) More experience for our inexperienced players.

3.) Henson in Europe and Romo staying means more snaps for both QB's.

4.) A healthy JJ, Flo, and A. Henry.

5.) We competed and beat some of the playoff teams in 2005, so with more improvements, we could be contending for a SB next year.

JJ only needed like 50 yards to get to the 1000 mark but failed in the last game....

Not what I consider strong....

He did have a 194 yard performance against Carolina, who had a top ranked rush defense. That has to count for something.

I would agree with every thing you said. I think we gave up 50 sacks.

O-line should be the main concentration this offseason though. Maybe throw in a few playmakers and we could be set.

Yeah, I'm hoping to get one of those widescreens this summer. If I have enough money. LOL

Edit: Until then I guess I will have to stick with the Hooters widescreen TV's.

he should of had the 1000 but they said screw it and continued to throw the ball in the last game when it was out of reach. they definitly should have went the other route and let JJ get his 1000 just for the his confedence:bang2: .

Halftime adjustments are a function of the coaching staff, plus you have to have players that can carry them out. I'm not sure we have either one. I'm pretty sure our coaches don't know how to make adjustments, and I don't know if we have the players. I think it is one of THE most important aspects of the game, unless you have a team like the 92-93 Cowboys who could not be stopped, even though the opponent knew what was coming. I think we should again add Jim Bates to our coaching staff, but it won't happen...
