Things we are learning

You also didn't see Swaim do anything of note either.

In other words................... blah.

They caught passes that moved the chains. What in the heck do you want from them.
Tell us why they are so horrible.

Gregory is the icing on top
give me another 1 tech for depth and I'm good

I like the safety situation fine except the depth at FS
Heath and Woods are good at SS and Woods might be pretty good at FS too
problem is we don't know but we do know there's no one behind him

Heath is not Good and Woods has proven nothing. Heath and Woods are the depth. We just dont have starters.

I saw one impressive catch, but otherwise I think you're right. I'm giving him credit compared to how awful the other options looked.

Right now, it's Swaim......................................................... and I'd put Rico at a distant second. These knuckleheads likely won't, but that's what I've seen. Jarwin looks like a receiver only and Schultz looks like a practice squad guy this year

Heath is apparently much better than you give him credit for
playing in the box he's looked very good
Fraizer is his backup
I already said we don't know where we are with Woods
that doesn't mean he sucks though lol
damn man

our HC is a back up QB, and our back up QB situation still sucks. Ive been saying this for years now, glad you guys are seeing it.

Your not the only one puzzled by this.

Garrett’s an ex-backup QB, ex-QB coach, ex-OC...and he STILL can’t identify, obtain and develop a competent #2 QB.

Other than maybe Gathers, no one is a real playmaker in a league that is seeing more and more teams go to athletic TEs that can stress defenses. The oddity is that you would like to think that if we don't have real playmakers at TE, they at least would be good blockers but none really are, other than maybe Schultz.

These guys are basically all JAGS, backup TE types. They are likely a bottom third of the league in terms of TE talent.

You have blinders on at TE. They are a mediocre, at best, group. The only hope is that Gathers somehow starts to really put it together. He's the only one with an upper level TE skill set. The others are just JAGs.
mediocre might be what we can have this year. its maddening but next week we may see new blood.
It will be mediocre if were lucky. let grow

No one wants to admit it but, Philly got one over on us on draft day by trading up in front of us for that Dallas guy. Never know for sure if we would have taken him but they knew we needed one and scooped him up. Witten did us no favors with his retirement timing.

Please. Williams is so much a better pick

It’s kind of amazing how they have almost completely ignored the backup QB situation for years now.

I mean even in 2016 they got LUCKY that Dak turned out to be who he is. That season they had Kellen Moore and Dak as their back-ups. Odds were that Dak as a 4th rounder wasn’t going to be able to do anything.

That being said. I do think Mike White needs to stay on the roster to continue developing.

But they SHOULD HAVE signed a competent vet back-up and let Mike White stay the #3
I'm starting to wonder if this org even understands what arm strength means in the NFL. Slack arms don't make it, no matter how smart they are, no matter how accurate they are. Why are we so bad at evaluating a QB's arm strength?

That sad part is that anybody with 1/2 a brain could have seen TE and S problems coming from a mile away.

Also backup OT: when a 26 year old OT sits on the free agent market and signs a 1 year $3M deal, it’s the rest of the league telling you that guy can’t play. For whatever reason fans here ran with the fact that Fleming is good...We basically still have to cross our fingers that Tyron can stay healthy.

We also have to hope the front office isn’t too stuborn/naive to look for help after cuts. There should be at least OL/DL and probably backup QB help as well.
Anyone w/ a 1/4 brain could see the backup QB problems coming from miles away.

Probably the worst tight end group in the league.

You are entitled to your opinion but, Heath does just fine and the coaches love him. He's not going anywhere. Woods is going to play this year for sure and they will have at least two backups. You can't have all pros at every position especially a non-money5 position like safety. You spend the big bucks on QB, LT, DE, CB and WR in the NFL. In the salary cap era only the top 4 or 5 teams can field 22 pretty great players with a few backups on a 53 man team. That's just the way it is now.

I seriously thought our TE's looked OK last night. What was this horribleness people are screaming about?

To me, horrible, average, sad, limited, etc. are all basically the same thing. In other words, really not good enough. There's no playmaker there. There's no guy that can stretch a defense from the TE spot, work the seams, etc.

Basically Witten retired to the delight of some to have the team replace Jason with a bunch of late career Witten types.

At times I believe people just pick out things to scream about.

I guess we all do it about something though. Like I still do not like day 3 of the draft. And will bring that up now and then. But will eventually stop.
Others, they go on about all the other bad draft(s) 5 to 8 years ago, but love this years day 3 draft. When it was worse than the ones 5 to 8 years ago. (there I did it again :muttley:)
so I guess this year some want to pick on the TE position, since we lost a future HOF'er.

That makes sense then.

Do you think a playmaker at TE is necessary for a deep playoff run?

Maybe Witten should have been mentoring them, instead of refusing to come off the field.

You should know by now that Garrett does not value stretch the field type TEs. He likes blockers who can catch well and get the 1st down. Witten has been the mold for this team for over a decade. They are trying to find the next one but, it may take a year or so.

Apparently you have your own opinion. I watch the guy and he is horrid. He looks terrible as always.
