Things we are learning

Won't really learn anything until it gets real and all the starters, that can play, are playing and the score and results actually matter. And until, they're at least 3 or 4 games in, we really won't know if this team is contender or pretender.

There are ?'s that were there months ago and they still have yet to be answered. I have not seen one answered yet.

Nothing really has changed, This team is dangerously thin at several positions and no player has emerged to make us feel differently about that. This team will need damned near perfect health to make the playoffs. Nothing I've seen has changed that.

You are entitled to your opinion but, Heath does just fine and the coaches love him. He's not going anywhere. Woods is going to play this year for sure and they will have at least two backups. You can't have all pros at every position especially a non-money5 position like safety. You spend the big bucks on QB, LT, DE, CB and WR in the NFL. In the salary cap era only the top 4 or 5 teams can field 22 pretty great players with a few backups on a 53 man team. That's just the way it is now.

The fact that he isn't going anywhere doesnt change the fact that he is horrid. What they love about Heath is his salary. But by all means applaud mediocrity.

Witten refused to come off the field? Where did you hear this?

I was reported several times earlier this year by several different reporters. He did not want to come off the field.
and if you look at any snap counts, it shown to be true.

I worry much more about the Safety Position than TE. We havent been great at TE since 2013/2014 when Witten was still very productive. Since than he was a checkdown target for 3 Yards when you Needed 4. The blocking though will be missed.

They overestimated the development of a Basketball Player that has no desire to become a really good Football Player. He hasnt improved in 3 Offseasons now.

Schultz Looks like a terrible pick in Hindsight.

But Safety is really terrible. Probably bottom of the League right now.

That has been around for years. He is such a leader that he would go against the orders of the coaches.

More like that couldn't take him off the field like they couldn't take Ware off without bad results. Look behind him at the depth and he was Linus' blanket for both Romo and Prescott.

I really don't believe this is a playoff team and to be a contender you have to have depth that can step up when starters go down to me this is a team that will win 6 to 9 games and miss the playoffs

Not wanting to and refusing to are not the same.

Just semantics there on this one.
So if he did not want to and would not come of the field, that is the same as refusing.
Are you aware of any time that he was called off the field and refused to come out? I've heard this before and wondered about that.

That makes sense then.

Do you think a playmaker at TE is necessary for a deep playoff run?

For this team that seemingly has nothing but solid WR types, yeah, think having a legitimate playmaking TE would make this a better team and most definitely be a nice security blanket for Dak.

Other than Gallup, I don't see anyone at WR that has any real upside beyond what they have shown in the NFL as playmakers. I am not buying the "Austin is going to start wrecking teams" hype yet.

I think the front office, it trying to build a Dak friendly offense, failed to give him some real weapons in the passing game.

You should know by now that Garrett does not value stretch the field type TEs. He likes blockers who can catch well and get the 1st down. Witten has been the mold for this team for over a decade. They are trying to find the next one but, it may take a year or so.

Well then that just cements my belief that Garrett struggles to adapt offensively with the game, etc.

It also doesn't give me much hope that they have this super secret Dak friendly playbook that they are hiding in preseason.

Close to it but they really haven't put any major draft collateral in the S position since Johnson picked Woody to convert from LB and Parcells got Roy OU Williams to play a hybrid type position.

They've had their chances but do not see the Safety position as critical. They may this season.

Apparently you have your own opinion. I watch the guy and he is horrid. He looks terrible as always.
Fraizer was only in on like 6 plays and he had 3 tackles including the PBU & a TFL

explain to me how he's bad and I don't mean just your opinion
like break it down
thanks

I'm still optimistic about this team, especially the defense. SF, CIN, and ARZ are no world-beater offenses, but with our 1s vs their 1s, I think gave up a combined 3 points to all of them in probably 3 quarters of total football. I know, it's preseason, players don't care (go ahead and watch Fournette's TD run this weekend vs Atlanta - the Falcons weren't even trying to tackle him), but if they played like that like in a real game, I think our 1st team offense would easily be good enough to win those games and go 3-0 against that slate.

As far as our offense - losing Frederick to a one in a million disease is obviously a huge blow with some very worrying long term ramifications. But the rest of the injuries our 1st team OL are missing time with are basically precautionary. Tyron, Martin, and Collins are all going to hit the field week 1 at CAR going full speed, and we get our All-Pro RB in the mix after watching Scarborough plod his way for 3 YPC all preseason. The defense has largely been playing their 1s and I expect for them to keep playing the way they have been in the regular season, but this offense is about to get a huge shot in the arm.

9-7, 10-6 is my prediction. The NFC is absolutely loaded with contenders this year (there are 4 or 5 NFC teams I'd take over any AFC squad not named the Patriots) and we aren't going to contend, but I think we're going to have a pretty good season.

I still don't see why everyone is harping about the TE's. They are not all that bad. Not great, but not horrible either.
I can still see them drafting a TE high in the draft next year. But I think we will better than most think.

FO still so stupid about the S's though.
I feel better about DT with Crawford moving back inside. He made plays last night, as to when at DE the previous 2 games, he did not make plays, well maybe 1 play.

I never thought they should have drafted White at QB, should have went the vet route. But after last night, I have him ahead of Rush now. But still that is not saying much. Maybe Keellen Moore is not such a good idea as QB coach either.

Could not get a feel about the WR's last night, because of such bad OL and QB play.

Still not impressed with Bo, never wanted him drafted either. I do like what I see from Darius though. But is it enough to make the roster.

OL depth is just shambles. What looked goo going into TC, not so much now.

I really like the D overall, and once Collins is back playing, I think we can be decent at DT, with Crawford there, and especially when Irving returns.

CB's look very good, S's, no depth, everyone seems injured. And when they are healthy, how good are they anyway with Richard here. We will not know until all are ready to play.

Lenoir, I think he goofed his way to the PS again. I do not want him back there returning punts. He scared me last year when they constantly put him back there, and again this year. He is a gambler. And we seen what those gambles did last night. Oh, has he ever had a great return either. Maybe a few decent ones. But his gambles would cost us games.
Give me Noah Brown over Lenoir.
Lenoir is not ready for a real position at all

Great quality on the gifs! Where are you getting those?

Are you aware of any time that he was called off the field and refused to come out? I've heard this before and wondered about that.

I was just going by what I read. Who knows if true or not.
However, he never seemed to come off the field, by lack of plays from other TE's. About the only time was in 2 TE sets dd the others get playing time.

Not that in his Prime he should have came off the field. And this can be on the coaching staff as well.
But still the others should have been playing a bit more in these past 2 seasons.

I actually liked the way that Frazier looked. I would be starting him over the horrid Heath in a heartbeat. But alas he is injured as soon as he is back.
Heath is better though
I could show you the same ability from Heath (only faster)
Heath is best playing down, not deep
I like our SSs but we are screwed at FS and game 2 is OBJ

Lenoir is not ready for a real position at all

After last night, correct, still a PS guy.
Even before last night I still felt that way somewhat. But also felt there was a chance they could keep him, depending how many WR's they kept.
