Philly has looked shaky the last 2 weeks. The pressure is on them to not fold under the pressure since they are in front and are everyone’s darling.

Teams will be loading up to give them their best shot. Should be a fun final stretch to the season. Go Cowboys

Beware the Colts game. Everyone talking about how the Eagles scaped by them. I think a lot of people forget that they beat the Chiefs. Colts can be a bit of Jekyll and Hyde. I found it interesting that Seth Joyner predicted a 21-20 Eagle win in that game. He knew something.

I’ll reserve judgement for a couple weeks I want to see how they sit after next 2 games

The only advantage to winning division is a week off to recover from injuries

the cowboys playoff history at home recently suggest it’s not much of a home field advantage

I’m a fan of whatever path keeps us from playing San Fran till the championship game that’s just a bad match up

Much of this is based on Philly's recent play.

What team in the NFC doesn't have this issue? Every NFC contender can have a statement game or a stinker and DAL, NYG and PHL are no exceptions.

I actually like the "who the hell will show up" situations with all of these teams. SF looks the most stable now but there's still 7 games left to play, nearly half the season.

I could also see a scenario where Phi wins the division before week 17 and we rest starters against Wash.

If the Eagles lose to the Packers which is possible I truly believe we will catch them.

Eagles will lose at least 1 if not 2 of their next 3.
They could lose all 3. Depending the health of the Giants by the time they play them.

GB, they will be ready to play, and the Titans is no give me game either.

Dallas needs to focus on winning out and let the chips fall where they may.

The Eagles could potentially lose a few more games but they will be one and done in the playoffs.

Philly sits at 9-1, we are 7-3.

Remaining schedules:

Eagles - Packers, Titans, @Giants, @Bears, @Dallas, Saints, Giants

Cowboys - Giants, Colts, Texans, @Jags, Eagles, @Titans, @Commanders

Tiebreakers that would likely factor in (in order)

Head to head

Philly has the edge obviously but Dallas winning the 2nd game makes this moot

Divisional record

Teams are tied at 2-1. But again, if Dallas wins out in the division, the Eagles loss against the Commanders looms large.

Record Similar Opponents

Common opponents are Bears, Titans, Packers, Colts, Texans, Jags, Vikings, Lions.

Right now, Philly has the edge as they are 5-0 (Colts, Texans, Jags, Vikings, Lions) thus far to the Cowboys 3-1 (Bears, Lions, Vikings, loss to Packers).

Long story short, as long as Dallas wins out in the division and finishes tied overall record wise with the Eagles, they would win the division. If Dallas loses a non-Eagles divisional game, it gets a bit tougher going to similar opponents. After that it goes to conference record and that Tampa loss could loom large for us.
Looking at the common opponent thing, which for some reason was bumped ahead of conference record in the tie breaker order about a decade ago…..

14 of the 17 games are common, so…easier to look at the non common ones and subtract…

Us: TB, Cin, LAR

Them: NO, Pit, Ari

We are settled at 2-1. They are 2-0 with NO left.

If one of the Philly losses happens to be to NO, common opponents will also be a tie and force us to conference record.

Unfortunately so did we against the Packers...had the Cowboys and the Colts taken care of business like they should have, this would be a completely different conversation.

Yep. At the end of the year we may look back at that 7 day stretch and kick ourselves.

This is true. But you are going to have a stinker. Eagles keep having stinkers and keep avoiding losses.

I have a hard time seeing us wining the division unless the Eagles crap the bed.

Good news with a few more wins we should lock up a playoff spot regardless.
we only need a net 1 better record that Phil, and also win head to head against them in Dallas and we win
our schedule is easier too
seems very possible to me

It's not that crazy. If you look at our schedule, those are all winnable games. Philly could easily lose one other game themselves based on their recent play.

To me, it's not an issue of Philly dropping a bunch of games here, I think the bigger issue is I find it unlikely we can win out despite us likely being faves in all remaining games (other than maybe @Tennessee). We have no margin for error. That Packers collapse could be a death blow.
I think the Eagles will stumble a bit. Not a collapse pr anyway, but I can see them going .500 the rest of the way

Thank you for breaking down this potentially complicated finish to the season. Go Cowboys

This exactly, Philly will lose to us and someone else, but we can not lose again, and that seems unlikely with the inconsistency of this team, from top to bottom. When they seem to figure it out, they come out and do some silly stuff like last Game 1st half.

its a tough climb. that Packers loss looms large at this point...but they seem to have alightly tougher schedule.

if manage Johnathan Taylor, and force Ryan into passing situations, we should be able to beat the colts. texans aren't talented. we should win. The jags are tricky. and hopefully not a trap game as the cowboys might be looking ahead to the eagles match up. Titans are another tough match up. I hope we win it ugly.

with that said, I think Eagles win the division. they will lose another 2 games. we lose at least one more game.
