I gotta hand it to you Nors... you've been on this 3-4 bandwagon a loooooong time. Now everyone else is jumping on. Kudos.

Anyway, I've been saying for a little while that Spears at DE and Ferguson or Williams at nose would be ideal pickups if we're going to a 3-4.

Willie Blade, if he can get his s**t straight would be perfect for coming off the bench at the nose position. He'd get plenty of rest so conditioning would be much less of a concern and he could use his "tubbage" effectively at the nose.

Personally, I think Travis Johnson is a 'tweener. Most think of DE's that are too small for the NFL as 'tweeners, but Johnson is a DT who's just a little small. At 6-5, 290 he's a little high cut for DT too... but his size seems just perfect for a 3-4 DE. From all I've read, he seems to have the movement skills for a 34 end as well. If he happened to be there in the early second, I'd give him serious consideration. However, like someone already said, I don't see him making it into the second.

Pollack, if we go to a 3-4, probably wouldn't get consideration from Dallas for the DE position. He's just too small. He'd be fine for 4-3 DE, but it appears we're going to switch to the 34. So that means we'd only look at him as an OLB. Does he have the movement skills for that position? I'm not sure.

Like ol' Silverbear said, he has some passes defensed and some INT's so you'd think he has the ability to drop into coverage... still, covering in the SEC and doing the same in the NFL are two different things entirely.

I think in the end, Pollack just wouldn't be a good fit for Dallas... at least not in the first round which it seems he's destined to go in.

As for what I'd like to see us end up with on a 3-4 defensive line is:

Draft Spears in round one.
Draft a huge NT prospect in the 2nd or 4th round.
Get Williams/Ferguson in FA for the nose.
Have Blade give him breathers (if they think he'll walk the straight and narrow)
Let the rookie NT fight for playing time with Blade.
Have Glover come in at the nose occasionally on obvious passing downs.
Have Ellis at the other DE position.
Let Glover come in on some downs to rest Ellis or Spears.
Let Coleman, LaFavor and maybe a late round rookie fight it out for the reserve DE spots.

Add Merriman (or someone like him) at OLB and Ed Hartwell (or someone like him) at ILB and we'd be able to play the 3-4 from day one in camp.
