blu ray has tons of supporters... are you kidding? blu ray came out months laster than hd dvd and is already outselling it. blu ray is looking like the smart decision. kojima the creator of metal gear solid says he watns a 50gig disc for his upcoming game? how can you honestly rip the ps3 when all 360 has going for it is its online? sonys online is free and im having a blast with it, sure as of now its missign some of the trinkets but they will be added over time. in the next couple months ps3 will have more innovative and good titles than the 360.

-Lair
-motorstorm
-heavenly sword

these are just games that are coming out at the end of jan and march. tehre are many otheres but these are the ones that stick out.

anyone can make claims without any support for them. Last I saw HDDVD was outselling beta ray on an 8 to 1 clip. 50 gig disc? Must be a Sony fanboy delusion. Even if that is true no one ever had a problem switching discs before, its not a big deal.

Motorstorm? Are you serious? You mean this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hNOFX1uBBQ&eurl= game?

it came out two months ago... 360 has been out for a year and all its had is gears of war, how can you say ps3 has no games when the past two generations have had the most wide array of games, ps3 will soon have tons.

It has Resistance and thats it. The past two generations are null and void right now.

Yea, all 360 has is GOW, that explains why I play Rainbow 6, Splinter Cell, GRAW, Oblivion and why I am going to get Lost Planet and thats just a sampling of what is out there. Dont make me own your *** in this new thread.

u have madden or resistance? hit me up wiht a friend invite. my name is Syvel7

not yet, but I will probably have Madden soon.

As for Blu-ray, it is starting to take off. They have more studio support and PS3 owners are buying movies. Blu-ray stumbled out, but is recovering now and getting momentum.

PS3 is rather disappointing so far.

Wireless connectivity has issues with many routers. Pretty poor job by Sony in making it very compatible. On my old router the only way it would work was if I turned off all security, like I'd ever do that. It didn't even work when it was wired to that router. That router worked fine with everything else, PC, laptop, Wii, Xbox 360, and PSP, just not the new super duper PS3.

Then there is the PS2 games looking horrible problem. This may or may not be resolved. Even if it is resolved, it's a bad job by Sony not having it ready for launch. They had a major delay waiting on Blu-Ray parts, they had plenty of time to fix this...if they can with software, it better not be a hardware problem.

There obviously are no games, but everyone knows that and will just have to wait.

The main screen isn't anywhere nearly as user friendly as the Xbox 360, and it looks a lot worse. Using the PSP format is pretty weak when compared to the blade system on the 360. It just seems very sloppy. Overall, it's just unpleasant to look at. The Playstation Store isn't that great either, and I have a lot of problems where I'll click to go to something and it just sits there until I click on something else instead.

User options are pretty limited at this time as well. Hopefully they will get better with more updates, but right now there's not much.

As for Blu-Ray, so far it's been disappointing to me. I've only seen 2 movies so far, World Trade Center, and X-Men: The Last Stand. While WTC was ok I guess for the type of movie it was, X-Men was very disappointing as it had a ton of noise in the picture that is very distracting. As I've searched on the net I've found that isn't because of the transfer, but because that just how the movie was done and they wanted to keep it that way. Not a good choice IMO. I have Invincible ordered and on it's way, hopefully it'll be an improvement. So far I've been very impressed with HD-DVD, but not yet thrilled with anything on Blu-Ray. There's gonna be a lot more movies coming out on Blu-Ray though, and not really anything else for HD-DVD (except Clerks 2 which is coming with Invincible) that I want for awhile.

So, really right now I'm not enjoying my PS3. There are no games, and the 2 main reasons I got it now, Blu-Ray and to play Final Fantasy 12, are not that impressive or don't work right.

I realize it's early on for the system, but for being higher priced, and having a lot more time to get ready, the PS3 pales in comparison to the Xbox 360. And yes, that's even compared to when the 360 was launched. It was simply much better.

Now I'm off to go play Zelda on the Wii.

Blu-Ray's capacity is far greater then HD-DvD's. and yeah they will be able to have 50 gigs on 1 disk, its amazing how far tech has come.

and yeah Motostrom doesn't look that good to me, but i'm thinkin about going for the hat trick and buyin the ps3....as soon as they tell me how to get wireless on the cheaper one : :D

Just do a little research, you'll find out how to go wireless with the $500 one. Try the forums at www.scea.com.

OWNED?

Blu-ray software sales have now surpassed HD-DVD for the first time the week of December 24 and they did so by an impressive 20 percent. The sales gap is expected to widen further in 2007 based on research conducted by Twentieth Century Fox and Blu-ray is expected to outsell HD-DVD by a 3.5-to-1 ratio by the end of the first quarter.

One of the driving factors behind the growth in sales is the PlayStation 3 (PS3), which was launched on November 17, 2006 in North America. The PS3 has been selling out at retail outlets since it was launched and despite shortages Sony has been able to meet its target of shipping 1 million PS3s in North America by the end of 2006. What's even more impressive is that they did it faster than their top-selling PlayStation 2 (PS2) platform did when it was launched. Sony is now targetting 6 million PS3 consoles shipped worldwide by the end of the fiscal year (end of March 2007).

While many have doubted the effect the PlayStation 3 would have on the format war between Blu-ray and HD-DVD it's hard to argue with the numbers. Blu-ray sales are up 700 percent since the mid-November launch of the PlayStation 3 and other Blu-ray players from Sony, Panasonic and Philips. According to a recent survey by Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) of over 10,000 PS3 owners, 80 percent indicated they will buy Blu-ray movies and 75 percent said they use the PS3 as a primary device for viewing movies. However, this shouldn't come as such a big surprise as those that have bought the PS3 might as well take advantage of the Blu-ray playback capability, which still is the cheapest Blu-ray player on the market at just $499.

The content advantage that Blu-ray enjoys is another major factor that should become more and more evident now that the Blu-ray exclusive studios (Disney, Fox, Sony, MGM and Lionsgate) are starting to release more titles in the format. When looking at the 20 top selling DVDs of 2006 almost all were released by movie studios supporting Blu-ray, which means that titles such as Pirates of the Carribean and Cars will only be available for Blu-ray. The content advantage should further shift in Blu-ray's favor as the format neutral studios (Warner, Paramount) catch up their Blu-ray release schedules with HD-DVD so that the same movies are available for both formats.

Overall the Blu-ray backers are confident that it's only a matter of time before the Blu-ray format becomes the dominant format in the US market, just as it already accounts for 96% of the market in Japan.

motorstorms grapchis are sweet and gameplay is sweeter. they werent far off from the target on some of the scenery. but they didnt meet the target thats for sure.

why are the past to gens null and void? olblivion is coming for ps3 so is graw, you can play rainbow 6 on ps3 with ps2 games. lost planet?? bad example that game is the easiest game ive ever played which doesnt make it fun. and feel free to own me. 360 is seriously lacking in games, after a year and they have nothing. i had this argument wiht my friend a couple days ago, he said i was wrong but he couldnt come wiht any games that were 360 exclusive besides gears of war that were good... he than paused and said fable two and halo, which i agreed wiht but they havent come out yet.

Once Halo 3 comes out for the XBOX 360, people will skip school, and work just to play online.
