Thinking positive: Could Free replace flozell next year?

I gotta say I was worried when Columbo went down, but I don't feel like we've missed a beat. With Free and Columbo both younger and at a cheaper price, does anyone see this as realistic for next yr? Great win tonight go boys!

When not faced with a smaller, quicker rusher, Adams is by four our best lineman. Replacing him would be absolute stupidity.

No, he gives up a lot of pressure on the right side. From the blind side he would get Romo killed...

I wouldn't be surprised if Free is our LT next year. Flozell just doesn't have the speed and athleticism to keep up with the premium rushers in the league today. The game has passed Flozell by in my opinion. He's become a pretty lazy player. Give me Free at LT, Colombo comes back and draft Anthony Davis out of Rutgers.

For those that want Flozell gone....be careful what you wish for.

When was the last time he faced a 6'7" 356 lb. DE slower than him? Just asking?

Maybe Flo can play LG. He is still good as long as he doesn't have to move laterally quickly.

Hell no... Free is worse at LT. We do need to start looking at Flo's eventual replacement.. Will it be Brewster??? Or are we going to draft another tackle??? Lets face it Flo is on the decline and his foot speed is showing it. He gets beat bad by speed rushers.

without a doubt. As a LT, he could use his quickness alot better than as a RT, where more strength is needed. LDE are usually run stoppers while RDEs are the pass rushers, less stronger ones.

FLO is done. I expect either for him to announce his retirement or the Cowboys to cut him this off-season.

It's ok, I understand it might take some sort of intelligence to understand what I posted.

Let me put this in a manner you can understand. If Adams faces a DE which requires him to shuffle his feet or bend down (EX: Dwight Freeney), he's toast.

Otherwise, a truck isn't getting to Romo through Adams.
Did you get that?

Not sure what games people are watching here. Free has played quite well. He was superb against the Skins who threw everything they had at him. Outplayed Tuck in New York. And had a solid game against the Chargers. The only game he's had struggles is against the Raiders where he played great in the first half.

Flo really needs to go. He's more or less running on fumes at this point and doesn't have the legs or the hips to get out of his stance and make blocks in the running game anymore. Notice how we don't run his way anywhere near as much as we used to. I've got to imagine that Free will be our starting LT next year unless some injuries get in the way. The guy has done a nice job at RT, he's ready.

I agree ive been very pleasantly suprised in Free. The pentalies were old 5 years ago. Big Leonard has taken over as our truck that we run behind on the o-line ever since he arrived. Last time I remember pounding it to the left is when we had Larry and Flo when he was in his prime

I'd hope so. I'm just starting to agree that this is the last year that Flo needs to be a Cowboy.

I'd imagine his cap hit would be pretty hefty to cut him too, since we just signed him to an extension.

Free at LT...

No, i wouldn't want him protecting Romo's blind side.. We seen Free in preseason at LT. He doesn't look good at the left tackle position. He has been pretty solid at RT. He isn't getting beat like Flo is getting beat.

Not sure about this but since it's an uncapped year couldn't we cut Flozell without cap ramifications?

I'll just say this: if Flozell is released, the Saints will pick him up.

The stiff they had at LT tonight was abused mercilessly tonight.

Free is already better than Adams.

I think we would be better with Columbo at RT and Free at LT but Garrett doesn't seem to be very comfortable with change and playing young players. Look how hesitant he was to get Austin out there - it took an injury to Roy of we never would have seen him. He is doing the same thing to Ogletree now even though he is more productive than Roy.

I can almost guarantee you the reason Roy was out there and NOT Austin was NOT Garrett's decision. I'll give you a hint: he's the owner and the GM of the Cowboys. :D

Maybe we can trade him then. There will be no cap implications to trades anymore.

I look forward to Ware running around the statue in future matchups. Sometimes Adams isn't even out of his stance by the time the DE has turned the corner.

There may be some influence from Jerry but at the end of the day he wants to win and get some of the credit which is fine by me. Just get the best players we have onto the field and win. Jerry can take credit from finding Otree as a UDFA just like they found Austin as a UDFA.
