Ya know when he went through that "the artist formerly known as Prince" at first I thought that's weird but then I thought 'if artist doesn't apply to him, it doesn't apply to anyone".

When I was in Memphis, my station was the presenting station for him and the record rep wanted to know if we wanted to meet him backstage. I was told in advance not to shake hands and just nod back to him. My wife and I went back and he was coming from his dressing room and stopped. When the rep told him my name and who I was, he just did a little bow with his head, smiled and said "nice to meet you". Then, my wife is introduced and he steps up and extends his hand to shake hers. First, I never heard the last of that and I did get to hear more Prince music in our home.

Say one thing about that man. Some people get well more than their share of talent and unless people really paid attention, they never realized what a phenomenal musician he was. The singing, dancing and presence kind of overshadowed just what a great player he was.

My father was a HUGE Prince fan. He had a drinking problem when I was young ( not gonna dumping emo's on ya, he was a very nice and funny drunk) and would play Purple Rain on a almost continuous loop (with some Supertramp thown in there). So I knew of Prince's of an early age. But when I got enough to appreciate music, his playing really blew me away.

Every time I hear Lets Go Crazy, I think of my Dad sprawled out on the couch, singing along to intro, only stopping to offer me $1 to fetch him another Genny lol

Prince didn't get enough credit as a guitarist.

A true entertainer. A guy meant to do what he did. That score he did for batman way back was unbelievable considering he played every instrument and sang. Plus a phenomenal guitar player. Sad he went out the way he did. He was too young and had a lot left to give. But you can say the same about too many entertainers. No time is a good time...

I was disappointed that when the year 1999 rolled around it wasn’t a big deal. Prince and the song that is.

I was all excited for him then it was like... here’s prince with the song 1999.

This has to be the Best Prince video out there, Super Bowl Rainstorm...Prince performs Purple Rain during Downpour. Great insights here. This is what True Genius is all about!

One of the greatest Super Bowl halftime performances of all-time. Some might suggest better halftime performances but <expletive> it would be a pretty short list if there was any ounce of honesty involved in any evaluation process.

Man, I can't help but dialling up that old Dave Chappelle skit from memory, in where Prince
( ,,,er,,,or formerly known as,but now forever more to be revered as to only some kinda' weird *** symbol) and his posse totally thrash Chappelle& Crew out on the Basketball Court,,,

:lmao2::lmao::lmao2:
* ya,,,every timeo_O

I cannot frame what 'a big deal' means but I do remember the Pop, R&B and Rock & Roll stations in my area playing the heck out of 1999 all that year. It got to the point where I would play CDs whenever I got in the car since I 'knew' what would be playing if I turned on the radio. It is a really good song but playing any song to death can get old really fast for me.

I was referring to New Year’s Eve. That why I said “when 19999 rolled around”.

Go back and find video of NYE. It was ho hum.
