All the moaning and whining and yet we're 4th in the NFC and 1st in the NFC East.

We're 2 games behind Seattle, 1.5 games behind New Orleans, and we're half a game behind Green Bay.

We have a higher SOS than any of the teams ahead of us.

San Francisco has a better record than us, but they're fighting for a wild card because of Seattle.

We've got to start playing better and more consistent football, but no one should be down on this team right now.

Just like the last two seasons, no NFC East team can count on getting a wild card berth if it should fail to win the division. It's division title or nothing.

If we don't win the division this year we only have ourselves to blame. It's ours to lose this year.

They need to fight hard for the #3 spot because the #4 team is going to have SF or Seattle come to town in the 1st round. I'd much rather see Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Philly, or Carolina.

Yup. Game at home vs GB is a must win if we want that spot. A win might not even be enough but a loss will definitely eliminate our chances

I'd definitely say both the games against New Orleans and Green Bay are vital. We come out on top and we'll probably end up #2 in the NFC. Seattle is basically a lock for first place in the NFC, their schedule is just too easy.

We really want SF to have to play that wild card game, where as we desperately need not just home field advantage, but we need to have that bye week.

I think ultimately we might have to go into Seattle to win the NFC Championship. What a storybook season that would be.

Basically all of the top teams that we have to deal with also have to play two of the tops teams.

New Orleans has San Francisco, Dallas, Seattle.

Green Bay might have the easiest schedule outside of Seattle (among top teams) if they can beat us. We'll be really fortunate if Cutler is out against us, and back for Green Bay. Cutler's injury really happened at the worst time for us. He might still play us, and he misses Green Bay the first time around.

Detroit could also be a sleeper.

The number one team we need to start rooting for is Atlanta. So hope for a swift recovery for Steven Jackson.

Atlanta?! Didn't they get their playoff cards revoked already, along with the Giants?

Atlanta is still alive although shaky. 2-4 but a not-too-hard schedule. Plus starting to get key players back from injury. I could see them rallying to a 9-7 record.

IMO, the Seahawks and Saints probably have the top 2 seeds locked up. We need to play consistent well from here on out to beat the NFC North team (likely Green Bay) for the #3 seed. The game against them might decide it. There will be no wild card coming from he East.

8 or 9 wins might win the division, but it will take 10 or 11 to get the #3 seed. That makes this Lions game critical. We need to beat Oakland, Detriot, Minny and sweep the division to get to 10 wins. Lose one those (likely) and you have to beat Chicago. Beat Green Bay and that's the 11th win that will get you the #3 seed. I count the Saints game as a loss. A win there would be an unexpected, and pleasant bonus.

To do all this, you have to play at a high level on a consistent basis, something we have yet to see from this team. Hopefully it starts against Detroit. Win there, beat Minny and your 6-3 and in good shape.

Beating New Orleans would be great, but it's not a "must" win. But it would be a statement win. We would be a contender.

Yea, Julio Jones coming back is going to make a big difference lol

ATL is done. Honestly, the NFC playoff teams are almost set already.

Seattle, SF, Dal, GB, NO, and Detroit/Chicago. There really isn't a lot of mystery or intrigue this year, imo.

This isn't last year.

Do you really think the Rams, Panthers, Cardinals or Eagles are legit playoff teams? There are really only 7 teams vying for playoff spots. Maybe one of those other teams could sneak in, but they would have to do so at like 7-9 and get extremely lucky. The playoff picture is pretty clear this season, imo.

I agree with three of those teams, but keep your eye on the Panthers. I think they're a lot better than most are giving them credit for and I could see them make a strong late season push.

Good call on the Panthers. Cam Newton is finally starting to figure out how to play QB in the NFL.
