This Cowboys receiver has extremely high expectations for 2026

How much longer does Jerry run with GP? Tag again, then what. I'm saying that Flo could be a big reason we move on from him after '26
Flournoy is a UFA after next year. You're going to have to pay him anyway. If they move on from GP, Flournoy would be smart to hold out until he gets an extension, because he'll have all of the leverage. If he's a comparable replacement, he's going to get the same $40m+ you could just give Pickens.

Pay GP now so that you can afford all 3 for two seasons and then worry about Flournoy when you have more flexibility with both CD and Pickens in 2028.

Tagging Pickens is the worst cap move they could have made, and they are doubling down on it. It's so stupid

As long as Lamb and Pickens are healthy and on the field, we will never see the full value of Flounoy. I cannot see a world that GP gets paid either, the value continues to go up, and IF he balls out....he becomes more unaffordable. 2x tag would be foolish

40 catches 4 TD’s almost 12 yards per catch literally drags defenders after the catch all from a 6th rounder . Yes he’s more then a one game wonder i look forward to even better in 26 .

When you can run the ball with Williams and hopefully a steady back up you have three strong options at WR plus a decent trio at TE you spread the ball around your offense is dangerous it makes the defense that much better .

To me, he did. Are you actually suggesting he gave max effort, game in...game out? Guess I am wrong, right? There was no criticism at all, you are right. There, better?
Then all players need equal criticism.

He has been very solid.

Some team like Arizona or Jacksonville will overpay for him when the time comes.
We have 2 seasons to develop him as a potential WR2. He has X traits. We can line him up anywhere.

I dont get people. Pickens was a top 5 WR in the entire league last year, and you were ready to just send him packing because Flournoy had 1 good game? And people sit in here and want to criticize Jerry for being nuts.
I don't think it's that most don't like Pickens. It's that you have CD Lamb making big bucks. We can likely only keep Lamb or Pickens, so we need Flournoy to take another step forward to comfortably let one of our WR1s walk or get traded. Someone is likely a cap casualty.

I didnt say that at all..... but PRIOR to last season, NOBODY with a clue could be serious if they jumped all over the front office for cutting the guy. He was a 6th round pick and had really been nobody. Now if they cut him during this off season, then you would have some merit to your statement.
And I didn't say he was a HOFer.

Yep he is a nice player. So was Cedric Wilson. If they move on from Pickens, they will likely keep Flournoy, if not, there’s no way they can pay any other WR more than the minimum.

Lots of snaps will happen before that decision is due.

Never said he can/will be, but we need to see if the possibility is there based upon the 2025 body of evidence...
Again, if you see enough that Flournoy can replace Pickens, it means you're going to just have to pay Flournoy. It gets you nowhere.

You're paying two of these guys regardless.

How could Flourny possibly show you he can be a 2 with Lamb and Pickens getting 80% of the action this coming season?

Has anyone seen Pickens report to a practice yet? I would be excited too knowing I'm the #3 about to get the nod to start.
It's been gone over about 56 times yes random number i'm gonna use it George Pickens does not have to show up for Voluntary practices What do voluntary mean george Pickens was never expected to be there so no he has not but I know you know the answer to your own question and that does not mean he won't play this year,...

We need to worry about is will he show up for training camp we need him in training camp that's it everything else doesn't matter to me All these practices are basically pajama parties they're running around in shorts they're not getting anything done he was already working out this offseason a lot with Prescott alone or with a group of other receivers..

Sit that's all I need to know the man's working out He's practicing with others on the side and isn't that the same I mean what do you think that needs a new brotherhood they already established a brotherhood the camaraderie he knows the offense he does not need the to be in the who's gonna win the best looking guy in shorts running against air running routes and other things against air they're not doing anything No 7 on sevens not even anyone on ones these dudes are out there doing nothing absolutely jogging around it's supposed to be for the introduction of the younger players or second year players or new guys it just got here that need to get themselves acclimated with the facilities and the expectations get a little bit of the flow of how to come and go..

It's kind of like the orientation when you just get to your new school whether it's elementary middle school or high school high school it was the hardest figuring out the campus and where you're supposed to go when you're supposed to be there where all the lockers were remembering your locker code..

That is what this is this is why it's called voluntary most of these guys don't need to be there And George Pickens has been mentioned way too much like he's not going to show up here's the problem Why would he not show up after signing the tag wouldn't have just not signed the tag yet if he if he planned to truly hold out,

WHY sign the tag it all...?! We need a philosopher to think deep and get back to us on why he hasn't shown up for practice yet He just doesn't feel like it because he feels a little wrong but I believe he'll come and start hanging out with the guys when it's necessary we call that mandatory And even if he doesn't show up much in those where he's kind of hanging out in the training room or sitting in ice or working with chords he's just making his point they call that posturing.

Feels he earned a long term deal but he also knows he already signed A tag and he'll be along before camp or at camp and that's all I care about...

Flournoy is already the Cowboys WR3 no question.

One of the biggest surprises from a disappointing 2025 season was seeing second-year wide receiver Ryan Flournoy take on a bigger role in the Cowboys offense. Flournoy, a 2024 sixth-round pick out of Southeast Missouri, played in 11 games his rookie year as a role player, but stepped into a much bigger role last season as a key contributor.

With Jalen Tolbert now in Miami and KaVontae Turpin struggling as a receiver the last season or two, Ryan Flournoy is penciled in as the Cowboys WR3, and while some may be writing that in with a pencil, early indications say that should be written in with a permanent marker.

Here's the problem i've been running around putting out fires all over the Internet social media about fluornoy is going to blow up how the only reason he had 40 catches and got himself noticed last year is because Lamb got hurt three games that's where he got most of his receptions in yards from..

It's all well and good but it's gonna take an injury for multiple games or longer to either Lamb or Pickens for Flo to have a better year He will not grow in this offense because there's not enough targets to go around You have Pickens and Lamb and Ferguson and Williams that come first It will always be that way in offenses it's gonna be tough for the other guy unless you think they're gonna plan on running the Greatest Show on turf and hardly hand the ball off which would be a bad idea to me ,

I don't want to see that I want them to run the ball more this year..

I mean in short it's going to be hard for him to grow in this offense if they stay healthy if these other targets stay healthy I just don't see how he's gonna get more than 40 catches again I don't see someone get hurt just so Flo can step up.

We will see what he can really do when Pickens is gone and they make him the number two and I guarantee people will be angry about that I won't But I believe other people will be upset as if it's 2018 all over again and forget that Lamb is an elite player he's a big time starter so it's not the same as 2018..

Has Turpin really struggled as a receiver? Flournoy emerged because he showed his potential when he got a shot, especially with what he did when one of the top two receivers was out, but Turpin always was going to be limited as a receiver both by his size and by his importance on special teams. He's a gadget player who can put his speed to good use at times. He's not an every-down offensive player.

I don't think Turpin ever has been penciled in as the No. 3, but we do want to get him on the field and take advantage of that speed at times. He's had a few drops over the years, but I haven't seen anything to suggest that he has been struggling in the receiver role he's been asked to play.

If anything, the team needs to figure out what it needs to do to better take advantage of his speed on special teams. I'm not sure whose idea it was to have Turpin hesitate after fielding the ball to find the best hole, but we need a plan of attack that has him hitting his stride quickly with a designed return instead of just trying to find a lane.

I've mentioned in the past my concerns about our ST coordinator and I think Turpin's hesitancy is a product of the coordinator not being that great at his job. Of course, this is only the second time in his coaching career that he has been the ST coordinator, and his first time didn't go so well.
