I was there . Sad day in Cowboys history leaving the only Holme we’d been World Champions . And where I’d been attending games for 4 decades.

Fortunately I have the season ticket seats I sat in for most of those years in my man cave .

What made it even sadder is the Cowboys lost. After the game they had a ceremony with a lot of former players. Fans were so disappointed after the loss most of them had already left before the ceremony started. It looked like a funeral. Very disappointing. Closed out the old stadium with a loss and opened up the new stadium with a loss.

That last game is one of the reasons why I still can't stand Jason Garrett. That was a big game and he totally screwed it up.

I remember the first game at Texas Stadium. Before that, they played in the Cotton Bowl.

I mean, I don't remember it perfectly, I have to go back and review some facts, to be honest.

I know it was the Patriots during the 1971 season. The Cowboys won 44-21. Roger Staubach and Bob Hayes went crazy in the 2nd quarter and at halftime it was 34-7. The Cowboys really needed that win because they were lackluster early in the season while Landry continued to rotate quarterbacks Craig Morton and Roger Staubach.

The Cowboys would end up 4-3 before Landry finally decided on Staubach. They didn't lose another game that season....including Super Bowl 6.

The Cowboys didn't start the season at Texas Stadium, they had to play a few home games at the Cotton Bowl. Their first game, the one against the Patriots was game #6 that season.

We played high school state championship there in 1971 San Antonio Lee vs. Wichita Falls.
And you had a heluva team with receivers like Osborne and Pat Rocket, not to mention none other than Tommy Kramer as your starting quarterback.

I believe Osborne ended up as a TE with the Eagles for a few years while Kramer spent his impressive career with the Vikings.

Pat Rocket was a great baseball prospect as I recall. I got to see him play because Lee played my high school, South San, for bi-district.

I was there too. Awful game. All they had to do was make a stop and win, they failed twice.
I did not buy my seats when they sent out the offer. Wish I would have.

I bought two programs and one is unopened. I also have two from the 1st game at Jerry world. One also unopened.
i would get a voucher for a free program with my seats at Jerry World, then that day I bought one as well.

As I wanted one from each in the plastic wrap they came in.

Rockett was an outstanding punter as well.

That 71 year was outstanding with our high school state championship followed by the Cowboys 1st Super Bowl win. A magical year.

If I am correct it was Kramer's junior year and Lee won the state championship game by one point. The following year they lost the state championship game but to be there two years in a row. That was no small accomplishment, the state of Texas had it's fill of excellent high school football teams.

That’s great Greg. Really cool.

I’ve been lucky enough to attend Cowboys games at every venue they have made their home - Cotton Bowl, Texas Stadium and AT&T. Of the three, Texas Stadium was by far my favorite.

In 1972 we lost in the semifinals in the Astrodome to Baytown Sterling.

I remember Ed Reed and some other Ravens were talking about how predictable our offense was.
And it's still the same today. Defense knows exactly what is coming. It's been talked about a lot. The leftovers of that Garrett offense is still around today. He was the OC then. HC for almost a decade. Kellen Moore, who came up under Garrett as a player and coach, is less than one year removed. Nothing has really changed. Offense has one single gameplan and has no idea how to adjust.

Er yeah but we are scoring a ton of points this season nevertheless.

Is it me or does the stadium look surprisingly small in the OP picture?
