This defense sucks

Going into the game Sunday, the Giants had, statistically, the worst offense in football and hadn't scored a TD in their last 8 quarters of play. Our defense gave up 28 points.

Is this just because of a divisional game?
Did Garrett have that much influence?
Is this coaching?
Is this scheme?
Is this because of all the injuries?
Is this because we have overrated these guys?

romo call them out like 10 times for simple mis communicaton issues that always led to a big gain or a 1st down by the giants. that SHOULD be easy corrected but mike nolan is the worst. give the defense to george edwards jerry and mike! u have NOTHING to lose!

it is 95% scheme and coaching! i am not saying the cowboys should have the #1 Defence but some one like belichick could have this defense be average at least! that is all the cowboys need with this offence!

Maybe Edwards will take over soon.

At least we got Nolan out of the sky box.

Injuries and no talent in the secondary.

Hold out for hope and better days ahead. In today's NFL , even top defenses in Baltimore and Pittsburgh have shown they are not all world(Baltimore vs. KC; Pittsburgh vs Philly). There was lots of improvement this past week versus the Giants. LVE, Chido, and Gregory soon to be in the lineup will help. I thought Gallimore showed well with increased playing time. From a scheme perspective, i noticed a lot of front four with 2 DTs, 2 DE (with option to either stand up or go in 3 point stance). The dime look with a sixth DB (Thompson was near the line of scrimmage quite a bit) seem to help, along with D. Wilson playing deep safety.

Take away turnovers and the Giants scored, what, 20 points?

The defense for some reason can't cover an 8-yard out on third down, it was true against LAR too. But otherwise the defense was fine Sunday.

The defense gave up 2 TDs and 300 total yards, had 2 sacks, and scored 7 points on a fumble recovery

Had Dalton not fumbled in our side of the field, they probably only give up 1 TD

Weird game to complain about the defense.

With that said, lets all laugh at this :laugh::laugh:

I can't believe some of you are defending this defense as not that bad vs the gmen.
Was it better than it has been? ok maybe a little.
Did the fumble give NY a short field? yep

But the fact remains, they have the worst offense in football. Let me repeat that, THEY HAVE THE WORST OFFENSE IN FOOTBALL.
And we couldn't stop them barely at all.

You can't "take away" the turnovers. They happen.

The defense wasn't good on Sunday. The Giants averaged 9 points before they played us. They scored double that on us, even if you "adjust" for turnovers.

You can't just pretend the fumble didn't happen. A better defense probably just stones the Giants after the fumble and holds them to a FG.

The Giants averaged 9 points per game. That's it. They had scored only one TD in the previous 3 games. What's weird is thinking that the defense was actually not bad on Sunday. LOL.

Our points against is excellent, what are you talking about?

We would be #1 in the league if they put our PAPG into the NBA.

Defense sucks and I'm not sure there is a sure fix this year. Maybe if the injured guys come back and LVE can be at his 2018 level. Or players trust Nolans scheme and don't freelance? Or our secondary learns to cover? Or they can Nolan and promote my pet rock?

Irrelevant

Like I said, the defense gave up 300 yards. The Giants came in averaging 278.

The offense was responsible for them scoring 14 points and the Special teams gifted them 3. Half of their points came at the disposal of the ineptitude of the offense and special teams.

What the Giants did last week or any other week has no bearing on how this defense performed on Sunday. NONE.

When you limit the opposing QB to an 80 rating and allow less than 100 yards rushing, you played a solid game

LOL. The QB's 80 rating was his best rating to date this year. You didn't hold Russell Wilson or Patrick Mahomes to an 80 rating. You held Daniel Jones who was coming off two games where his ratings were 56 and 65. And you want to sell that as a win?

What the Giants have done previous is totally relevant because it paints a picture of how competent they are on offense. The Cowboys struggled at times with arguably the worst offense in the NFL. That's just a fact. Put it another way. If the Cowboys played that exact same way against the Chiefs and Mahomes, you think they hold Mahomes to an 80 rating and 27 offensive points scored? Of course not, it would be silly to argue differently.

You are basically trying to slice and dice the facts into skinny pieces that you can then use to try to talk about how well our defense played. It's kind of bizarre. Our DVOA rating, for example, got WORSE after this game. We went from the 24th ranked D to the 26th, in part, because the Giants offense blows and they had success against us.

ITs like they are lost like they are looking at the wrong keys. Its almost like they put in a new defensive scheme every week and everyone is learning on the fly.

i dont even under stand it. it was the same stuff last year but i thought it was the stupid co defensive coordinator thing with marinelli and richard. nope! maybe the players are just not bright!
