This draft could be very unpredictable...

In recent years on draft day a guy like Mike Mayock would often predict the pick that a team would make and pretty much be spot on. This year it seems much less likely to be the case.

Do you guys really think that there is that much disparity in the rankings of players this year, or it it pretty much like every other year, but teams are doing a better job of playing their cards closer to their vests?

I guess we won't know how accurate Mike Mayock is until after the draft.

I think so many players are close to each other in talent that you could see a lot of surprise picks being made.

This year you lack the high impact skill talent. That is usually what pushes the board down on the grunt positions. There's not a top drawer QB, WR, TE, DE, and the top CB isn't that great either. Combine that with a lot of players that are much closer grouped in talent then normal and it makes for an exciting mixture.

Sadly, I am thinking it will play pretty close to expectation except where trades are concerned.

I think players are pretty well-slotted. Lots of experts predicting the same 14-16 guys with r1 grades.

QBs are always a wild card and it would not at all shock me to see Buffalo take one at 8 then the 2nd come off the board at 13 with the Jets 2nd pick. I obviously hope this to be the case so it pushes down a couple guys with true r1 grades to Dallas.

As an NFL team is it is really easy to take a QB r1 and justify it.

What may be intriguing is SF and Balt. Both teams have a bazillion picks and could easily move up and get one of these top 16 true r1 guys if they want to. ATL is another good team with enough picks to make that leap.

ATL to the 13 from the Jets makes a lot of sense. Jets can use more picks and take their QB later in r1. Grab a DL with the additional high draft pick.

does anyone know who the chiefs have in their sights, i dont know if its me or not but since parcells at miami its always been seen that the first pick is pretty much locked up and not that big of a secret anymore. is that the case this year? Reid can go many ways with his pick. I would have more respect if he bailed out and picked up more picks, but they might need that number 1 this year. What is the vibe on the number 1 pick?

The general vibe seems to be which ever of Joeckel or Fisher the team has rated higher. Those two seem to be the consensus top two players in the draft.

I think the Bills hold the key to how this draft plays out. The recent rumors were they wanted Nassib to reunite with Marrone and were afraid they might lose him if they waited. Now I'm reading this

Evan Silva ‏@evansilva 27m ESPN's Todd McShay on Tavon Austin: "I've even heard in the last couple days there's a possibility that the #Bills could take him at 8."

I think once they make whatever strange move they'll make, the dominoes will fall.

A reach for Austin probably doesn't affect anything though since he would likely still go before 18. A qb on the other hand knocks someone down.

Did someone get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? :) In watching previous year's draft coverage it was pretty amazing how close Mayock was on predicting picks, even pretty late into the draft. I don't see how that could be the case this year.
