This DT / DE should be the Dallas Cowboys top target in the 1st round (2025 DRAFT)

Texas Longhorns DT / DE Alfred Collins: 6'5", 320 lbs, super quick/strong and aggressive playmaker no matter if they line him up inside or outside. He is a perfect clone of the Chiefs Chris Jones.

Yes, RB Ashton Jeanty wants the Cowboys to draft him (he would be a good pick in the 1st round), but there are other pretty good RBs who can be picked up in the mid rounds (for example: Texas Longhorns RB Jayden Blue).

You don't pass up a Chris Jones clone for your D-line. We have not had a hybrid DT/DE who could play this good in 20 years.

Make Alfred Collins your 1st round target, Cowboys!

What say you?

I’d guess you’re a Texas fan? There are zero people claiming this dude is worth a top 10 pick let alone 1st rounder.
Trade down from Top 10 into the late teens in the 1st round while picking up an extra 2nd and 4th round picks. Pick DT / DE Alfred Collins in the teens 1st round. Use your extra picked up picks (2nd & 4th round picks) to address other positions of need (WR, RB, etc).

Doesn't matter if one is a Texas Longhorns fan or not. If you did some homework and watched Alfred Collins' play, you would realize how good he is.

Late 4th early 5th round. Relies more on brute force than refined hand usage and footwork. Inconsistent pad level leads to leverage issues, particularly when facing double teams. pass rush limited beyond bull rush, lacking counters and finesse moves. Tends to be a beat slow in diagnosing run vs. pass situations. Tackling needs improvement and tends to lunge and miss in space.
I like Collins, but he is raw and needs time to refine his game at the NFL level.

It is way too early to decide who the Cowboys should draft player wise because we don’t even know the draft order but this draft appears to be deep at defensive tackle and running back. I would draft a tackle in one of the first two rounds and double dip a running back with the 3rd round pick and one of our 5th rounders. The Cowboys supposedly have 11 picks in the 2025 draft.
