He watched his team get manhandled and TOP for the Cowboys was ridiculous and to top that off, he watched a QB set the record against him on his own field.

He watched a young OC with 0 fear of his reputation for defense and impose his will while fighting bad breaks and calls and to make that worse, he watched that young OC cool, calm and collected as he dissected his defense. He came with a plan and was working his plan.

He watched his defense give up 35 points, 567 yards with 445 passing yards and a 70% completion rate from the QB.

You could see the wheels turning in his head as he knew his team was really no match for the one he was playing and they were being kept in the game by luck and some help.

No doubt, this one hurt Belichick more than any other game in a very long time. Losing to Brady and then this on top of that losing this game was the double whammy as this was his chance to redeem himself for this season.

He is still Belichick but some of the bloom is off that rose, his mystique somewhat tarnished and he is nothing more than a mere mortal coach today. He was out coached and his team outplayed and he knows it. And so do the Krafts and fans.

To know that he stopped our rushing attack, forced us into making multiple mistakes, a missed FG, terrible 3rd down conversions, and multiple 4th down stops.. YET still lost the game? Oh i know he's hot. If he could he would probably fire someone. This was a game that he wins 10/10 times any other season

It'll sting because he almost pulled a rabbit out of the hat. Cowboys obviously has a better team. Still with a rookie QB and patched up offense he managed to keep this game close and almost won. NE played a very clean game. Should teach McCarthy that clean up penalties and TO so we DON'T beat ourselves! McCarthy got bailed out again yesterday. He would have been crucified for the two fourth down calls (1st Q and 4th Q) if we had lost the game.

he knew this before the game.

he knew that he has to somehow keep the game close to have a chance and he did. his team was out matched talent wise. he had a rookie QB. he took away couple of parts of the game, which was deep and outside. take away our big play ability as much as possible. he took away cooper by having his best DB shadow him like glue. he stopped the run early. he forced us to dink and dunk and hope for us to make mistakes, which we did a few times. but his defense got tired. they started giving up long runs in the 4th when they couldn't tackle any more and RBs were running through their tackles. he wanted to make this his kicker vs. our kicker because that was his only chance and he knew his best shot was to force us into couple of mistakes and get couple of turnovers....it almost worked. that shouldn't have even been close in teh 4th. we had something like 60+ plays, they only had 28....the defensive brain faart and giving up that last TD, just almost killed us, otherwise we had kept them in check.

He’s GOAT. He lucked out getting to coach Tom Brady for 2 decades sure, but the man is a great coach.

Having said that, I don’t think there is a huge gap between coaching staffs in the NFL. This gap is so tiny, that what always decides games and creates the perception of who is or isn’t a good coach is completely related to the talent on the field. Jimmy Johnson was a moron that was in over his head in 1990. In 1993 he was a genius.

If we were to play the Pats again, we would smoke them by four TD’s.

I think he is rebuilding the program nicely. Mac Jones appears to be a building block. With cap space and good drafting the Pats could be back in the playoffs by next year.

Interesting take but not one I share while I agree with some of your assessments.

But I can’t imagine why this game will hurt Bill more than any game in a long time. His team was obviously overmatched and he took us to the brink.

As a matter of fact Bill has taken two of the best teams thus far to the brink. There shouldn’t be anything but pride not pain.

Shouldn’t even have been a close game to begin with! Played ourselves and the refs taking away Daks TD

The refs were so bad I can't even belive it was allowed....that dak sneak on 3rd down, the phantom call on Martin, the missed roughing on dak...it was so blatant

Hopefully the league at least acknowledges it was bad

Let just say this. If Belichek is coaching this Cowboys team we will be odds on favorite to win the SB.

If not for 2 red zone turnovers, 12 penalties and the refs help for sure taking away one of those TD's. Not to mention all the holding calls not called on NE.
This game could have been 52 to 21.

He used the formula that all teams will try. It’s one of the only ways to beat us. Stop the run and make Dak beat you. Dak has gotten good enough now he can beat you with his arm. I think the pats played as well as they could. And had the refs help.

One of those games was nasty weather and don't you think Belichick knows he should have lost that game by 20? The score was not a true reflection of that game and he knows it.
