I still have no clue why Murray ran back into traffic instead of staying on the sideline at the 2:40 mark.

I would feel better about it if we had some of those guys on defense...especially Lee.

There's no comparison between that game in 09 with NO and Sundays game vs SF. The Niners aren't nearly the team NO was back in 09 and the Cowboys aren't nearly the team they were back then. Romo and Witten are about the only players left from that 09 team other than Spencer who won't be playing Sunday. The reason the odds were so against the Cowboys beating the Saints in 09 was because the Cowboys were riding a 2 game losing streak heading into NO and the Saints were 13-0 and looked virtually unbeatable at the Dome. What we learned back in 09 vs NO is if you're an underdog looking to upset a good team your defense has to step up and make plays when the game is on the line.

The Cowboys defense played great vs NO and didn't put Romo in a position where he had to win the game in the end. Brees was put in that position in the final 2 minutes and Demarcus Ware pulled off the greatest play of his career by strip sacking Brees and recovering the fumble ending the Saints chances. The Cowboys don't have Demarcus Ware anymore or several other players that were part of that great win. Regardless how good the Cowboys offense is on Sunday if their defense doesn't step up it's going to be a long game and a long season. Trading scores with SF all day will only get the Cowboys beat in the end.

The good thing about trading scores is we can get turnovers. We win the turnover battle who cares how many yards we give up. Score board is all that matters

The bad thing about trading scores is the Cowboys have won only 2 games the past 3 seasons where they and their opponent both scored over 30 points. The Cowboys lost 3 games last season by a combined total of only 5 points trading scores all day. Trading scores has led to the opponent getting turnovers at the most critical moment as we saw against Denver. It makes no difference how many yards you give up it's keeping the opponent out of the endzone that wins games. Yards don't beat you but points do. The problem with the Cowboys is they bend and break the yards lead to TD's. The best chance of the Cowboys coming up with turnovers is getting SF down by a couple of scores and forcing them to press in the end.

The Cowboys have lost more games in the 4th quarter the past few seasons than just about any team. They lost to KC, Detroit and GB by a single point last season all due to not being able to come up with a critical stop in the 4th quarter. When you trade scores the last team that scores usually wins and it's seldom the Cowboys. With the lack of pass rush this season the Cowboys are likely to find themselves in a number of games where they're going to have to trade scores with opponents which is going to put a lot of pressure on the offense and Romo.

The problem I see is that Harbough's plan is clearly going to be to run Gore and Hyde down our throat. And I'm not sure we can put 9 in the box and even stop it.

Gore is not a fumbler and never has been, Hyde doesn't look to be either. I don't see how we win a turnover battle if the Niner's play conservative, which they clearly should.

We stop the run we'll be fine. We need to take advantage of the players they have missing on defense.

Their #1 scariest threat to me for 49ers is Vernon Davis. He is like a man among boys out there.

Heck, last year he had the same number of TDs (13) that Dez had while playing one less game. He averages 16 yards per catch!

If I am Marinelli I am putting Carr on Davis. Barry Church and Wilcox would get eaten alive by Davis.

Pressure Kaepernick, and he'll give you the game.

If not, it's going to be a high-scoring dogfight.

Crabtree has a calf issue. Hmmmmmmm. Big loss if he can't play. Either way, this defense will STRUGGLE against the 49ers who view this as a bit of a grudge match.

Agree on both these.

I expect to see a lot of three WR, one tight end sets. That would keep us from putting a corner on Davis, spread us out so that they can run the ball on us. For me this game is about two things: Keeping Kapernick in the pocket and being strong against the run up the middle.

We need to get them in 3rd and long situations and for that we have to stop the run.
