This Given Sunday

After the abysmal showing sunday, i see no reason for optimism.

I think it was more just going through the motions because they have played their hearts out the past 5 weeks prior. Knowing they had 3 games, went soft with an AFC team that they knew would be playing hard for their playoff lives.

Not saying I agree but this defense doesn't miss tackles like that. Plus Garrett went for almost every 4th down.
Take the points. It was early.

My favorite was when Luck scrambled to the right, and one of our guys (I forget who) just continued to block a man off the field, while Luck ran past him for a 1st down.

It was D Lawrence. I remember seeing that and wondering what he was thinking.

Not any Sunday, THIS one.

It's all right there for the taking. At home. Against an inferior opponent.

Wrest the division from the defending champs. Qualify for a home playoff game. Guarantee a winning record.

Nothing that has happened to this point will have mattered - good, bad, or ugly. It's all right in front of these Dallas Cowboys.

This Sunday.

I can get behind this.

I actually think it was a little bit worse.

I thought they looked better against the pass against Luck than they did Mariota. They allowed the Titans to convert nearly 80% of their third downs in that game. It was an inexplicably poor performance.

This game should be over by halftime.

Just don't let Tampa Bay linger around keep the score close into the 4th quarter!!!

I agree. I'm sure they love to play spoiler, but if you jump on them early, they'll lose interest and roll over. But if you let them stick around, or worse, let them play with a lead? You'll have an all day fight on your hands, and maybe even another loss.

True but if this team expect to be a playoff contender you got to play like it all the time. The better take this Tampa team seriously, while their record is not good they are highly competitive and have been in all their games and took down some good teams along the way. I gut tells me Dallas goes out there Sunday and puts a beat down on Tampa but my head tells me this is a Tampa team Cowboys better take seriously.

Oh I agree with you. I had no problem taking the points there. Usually Garrett takes the 3. The not scoring part doesn't tell the entire story, although should be no excuses anyways.

I'm always against not playing your hardest. Was in 16 when Garrett wanted to rest everybody

I agree. Dak played a series but by and large many starters sat. I have seen different coaches do it different ways in terms of resting starters. Given that year we did not have to play until division round that gave players extra time. Frankly not sure that hurt us we played GB to a 31 to 34 game with Rodgers pulling off fine min comeback. To me it has always been a fine line between wanting your team sharp but also making sure injured players are able to get as healthy as possible heading into the playoffs. This year I will say we have nothing wrapped up as of yet, just odds saying we should but until we do this team can't afford any let downs like we had last week. Should Cowboys win this next game and clinch I could see Dallas resting some guys since we would have to play wild card weekend. 1st thing 1st win the damn division this weekend!!!!

I agree. I expect them to go out and play like a contender especially after this past game where guys did not look ready to play. Zeke called this past game a wake up call? Fine then go out and play like a team who intends on challenging for a title.

I don't see them as a contender.

We win this game, I rest everyone that is remotely banged up.

Im still trying to get my head around laying an egg In Indy.
Im back to week to week, one week at a time.. Im not ready for playoff innuendos yet.

Same here. I can’t get past them not just putting up a goose egg but the total lack of effort. I was so hoping that, finally, these players were making it their team, not Mr. Jones’ team— you know, the one where you play just hard enough to keep the media at bay and the “illusion” going. When the team belongs to the players you’ve got leaders in the locker room that won’t accept resting on your laurels. The Colts debacle looks like what happens after a leaderless team breathes a sigh of relief because the owner thinks they’ve now got it all under control. So, yes, week to week it is...

While I understand your point, we have to remember Garrett doesn't ever seem ready to play after a bye week. He needs to play everybody that is healthy. Look at Belichek, he plays Brady every game and rarely pulls him even in blow outs.
