Romo.
NFL Cousins of Ron Mexico September 16th. 2008, 4:00pm
It’s a day for short posts that don’t offer much by way of analysis, so I thought I throw up a little diatribe about how much I dislike Tony Romo.
I just don’t like that goofy son of a *****. I don’t know why. OK. That’s a lie. It’s because he’s had all this praise heaped on him by the national media and he clearly doesn’t deserve it. He’s never won anything. He’s just some undrafted goofball who happened into the perfect situation. You want to tell me that Tavaris Jackson could succeed in the Cowboys star-studded offense? OK, maybe that’s a bad example.
Romo is excellent at hitting a wide-open Terrell Owens. And he’s great at tossing the ball to his well-documented BFF, Jason Witten. Other than that, what does this guy do so well? He’s completely responsible for giving the Eagles life and letting them back in the game last night. At 14-6, the Cowboys could have gone down and crushed the Eagles. The game was headed for a route. Instead, Romo threw an interception. Followed quickly by his fumble in the end zone. Within minutes it was 20-14 Eagles.
Just look at this headline: “Romo the hero for Cowboys in MNF classic.” I want to flip my desk over. He’s everything everyone claims A-Rod is. Somehow people think he’s a star.
But he dates a untalented blonde with a big rack, who used to be famous! Thus, he’s loved by the US Weekly crowd. (I just got zapped by my editor. Better leave that alone.)
From earlier today:
Romo (surprised, and half-laughing): “Darn it. I suck.”
And somehow, people find this endearing. He’s just telling it as it is! He’s so down to earth. That “aw shucks” attitude that makes me want to see him fail spectacularly. I hate down to earth people. I can’t wait until he inevitably hosts Saturday Night Live on the eve of a Divisional Championship game.
“Surprised and half-laughing.” That’s how this lucky ******* spends his entire life. He’s so overrated it’s comical. I always say the Cowboys will never win a Super Bowl with Romo as the quarterback. People love to rebut, “Last year everyone said that about Eli.” That may be true, but no one was verbally or textually blowing Eli. New Yorkers told him he sucked. He was always the Black Sheep Manning.
Romo is supposed to be the Cowboys’ latest superstar quarterback. He’s just a guy with a lot of talent around him. It’s like the exact opposite situation Joe Simpson was in 10 years ago. I can’t wait for the Cowboys to get bounced from the Playoffs. It’ll probably come against 7-9 Seahawks. God, I’ll be torn.
