Catches with his hands which = higher catch radius. That's already a win.

I like his size and speed but the drops need to subside somewhat. The competition with Williams will be interesting, although I'm not at all confident that Butler will take over Williams spot until he proves it. That's certainly not to say that Williams is impossible to beat out, though. We'll see how it goes in camp and the regular season first.

Yeah, the drops I feel like are a lack of concentration. He definitely has more upside than Williams

Butler is getting some good reports lately from the OTAs and minicamp, so there's that to consider. Nevertheless, he has work to do. Training camp should be somewhat more revealing as to who does what. I think Butler will have to outperform Williams quite convincingly to wrest the #2 WR spot from him, however. It's something that should be interesting to follow in camp. Of course there are other WRs that will be vying for a spot as well, so may the best man win. As always, there'll be plenty of competition this year. I can't wait for TC to get underway. Ya gotta love it!

Our offense is going to be one of the best in the league regardless. Our QB, our RB, our O line, our pass catchers.........opposing defenses will have their work cut out.

Our own defense will be the difference maker. If we can get back to being a ball hawking takeaway machine like we were in 2014 I'll be giddy like a schoolgirl.

Personally, this sounds more like a slap in the face to Williams. I don't have a problem with Butler challenging Williams, that creates competition.. but Williams is a more 'well-rounded' Wideout than Butler. He deserves more recognition for his play. Twill is our best blocking Wr, doesn't have baggage, has come up clutch at times, and has respectable #2wr stats within a run heavy offensive system. Terrance has been as productive as Irvin's fellow teammate, Alvin Harper.

No one is beating T-will out of the 2nd receiver position. Dispite what many here think he is a damn solid player. I don't care if he's a body catcher or not,he catches the ball when it's thrown to him. Michael Irvin was a body catcher too.

Butler had the highest drop rate among the team's receivers and probably the greatest penalty yardage per snap on offense. He might ultimately be a better compliment for Dak than the body catcher, but he really needs to be more consistent and controlled to beat out TWill.

I have been hard on Williams since his first year and I was also the first one to call him a body catcher before it became the "in thing" to do. That said, Williams impressed me last year. He made more hand catches when he had to and more importantly, he made some very difficult and impressive catches including some key catches last season. That toe-tap catch in the end zone was one of the best I have ever seen.

As for Butler, he reminds me too much of Roy Williams (WR). In fact, sometimes I think for a moment it is Roy Williams because his running style and body movements are very similar to Roy's back when he played. Beyond that though, Butler reminds me of Roy in two other ways which is he will just disappear for an entire game or when he does show up, he can make a great or clutch catch at times only to drop an easy catch later. That catch he made against Green Bay in the back of the end zone last year was impressive both from a hands and feet position standpoint, but then some games last year I wondered if he was even active. Granted, I know the coaches game plan and sometimes a player's number gets called a lot and sometimes not, but there were plenty of games where he had a chance to shine such as when Dez was out and he failed to do so.

People here already have Noah Brown taking Butler's roster spot. Its a law of the Internet, I guess. Given enough time, every possible opinion will eventually be expressed.

I approve this message.

Williams catches with his hands when he needs to.

I've been disappointed in Butler so far. Maybe this off season he put it together and will show us something more.

I see a lot of Roy williams, too. That's a good comparison.

TWill is better both catching and blocking.

I think Butler stays, but there's a better chance he gets replaced than there is he moves up.

Agreed, I've already posted the statistical proof that Williams is one of the top 2nd receivers in the league. He is a playmaker that is ranked bery high in "big plays" receptions of 30 yards or more. He is ranked. #2, by far, on the Cowboys.

I showed were he is an absolute playmaker in the playoffs, leading all 21st century Cowboy receivers in TD's and yards per reception.

Bryce? A nice substitute in for a few plays Dez needs a breather but starting material?Seriously?

The dude had four years to prove himself, it's not like he's a fresh young face, he is only a year younger then Williams.

More importantly, he's never been reliable...ever.

He has barely caught 50% of the throws he was targeted, 58 of 110 in his career. Last season it was 16 of 32.

Terrance is proof that many fans base their opinion on the few plays they remember and take for granted many plays that contributed to a successful drive or comeback. Both Bryce and Dez caught 41% of the deep passes thrown to them. T-Will is 52%.

And here is a pretty important stat::

For all NFL receivers targeted deep 100 or more times in the past four seasons combined, Terrance is ranked 6th in catch percentage behind only Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, Jordy Nelson, Kenny Stills and Eric Decker.

Bryce cannot beat out Terrrance for a starting position. He is a career backup, the 5th receiver.
