This is just pushing the limits of stupidity. I'll bet they made at least $48.00 on that one. While spending $3.00 on the Nectarines.

I went to one of these pretentious joints; I ordered a wrap. I paid $8.50 for an egg roll sized sad excuse for a wrap, thrown in a brown paper bag with one napkin and not even a side of chips for my troubles. And the $8.50 didn't include a drink.

It's amazing what you see. A place calls itself a 'Cafe' and takes on airs and believe that justifies selling a bowl of soup for $5.00. A sandwich for $9.00.

I'll take my favorite italian deli and get a full stomach for my cash.

Wow.

I've eaten at Zuni - it is one of the best restaurants in California and honestly, most of the pricing there is quite reasonable given that SF is amazingly expensive. For example, the last time I was there our dinner for four, including appetizers, a very very good bottle of wine (only marked up about 30% from the vintner's price), their famous roasted chicken, desserts, and four glasses of port. For all that (with a 20% tip) we spent maybe $250. That's pretty cheap.

Now I'm sure this was some heirloom variety nectarine or something but that price is idiotic.
