What we need to see is if he can actually play football.

Track speed seldom translates but it is scary good when it does. --see Cheetah.

Nice speed for that size. Probably not fast enough to make the Olympics in the 100m. Maybe he can change to the 400m where he can get the most out of his long stride.

Tons of schools already lining up.

First edge rusher/WR I have seen.

Been over 20 Olympic sprinters play pro football, TONS of track guys also play football.

Track won't be in his plans, yes while 10.29 is great for a guy that size, when talking Olympics that is sub 9.90 stuff.

Been more misses due to speed than any other reason in the NFL Draft.
And been a whole heck of a lot more than 20 Olympians try and bomb at football.
Track speed is a blessing but it doesn't always translate to football.
NFL teams test over 40 yards as opposed to 100 or 200 much less 400.

This isn't hard to grasp my dude.
Fastest EVER NFL 40 times.
Speed is insanely overrated.
Very few guys can play at high speed and under control and especially doing so with pads which no one wears for track.
Naming dudes across 50 years of football details just how goofy your point is.
  • No. 1: John Ross, 4.22 seconds in 2017
  • No. 2: Kalon Barnes, CB, 4.23 seconds in 2022
  • No. 3: Chris Johnson, RB, 4.24 seconds in 2008
  • No. 4: Rondel Melendez, WR, 4.24 seconds in 1999
  • No. 5: Dri Archer, RB, 4.26 seconds in 2014
  • No. 6: Tariq Woolen, CB, 4.26 seconds in 2022
  • No. 7: Jerome Mathis, WR, 4.26 seconds in 2005
  • No. 8: Marquise Goodwin, WR, 4.27 seconds in 2013
  • No. 9: Stanford Routt, CB, 4.27 seconds in 2005
  • No. 10: Henry Ruggs III, WR 4.27 seconds in 2020
The point on this 5-star DE kid is CAN HE PLAY FOOTBALL?? Like AT ALL?
Can he bend? Can he catch? Until we see that film it's all a bunch of nothing.

At his height and speed he's more of a OLB in the 3-4.

Heard this along time ago...
For every sprinter that had a lasting career in the NFL, there are two more that tried and couldn't.

Frank Budd, Ray Norton, Jim Hines, Tommie Smith, John Carlos were all Olympic sprinters all held sprint world records. They were all failed experiments.

But this isn't about that sort of thing, that big guy is a football player who ALSO runs track.

I can list at least 500 NFLers who ALSO played football. Most the cornerbacks, running backs, WR's did run track......ALSO.

Zeke was a Missouri state hurdles champ, a lot of Cowboys were college track guys.

Our first 1000 yard rusher Calvin Hill a long jump at Yale.

The great Mel Renfro, scored in the NCAA long jump and hurdles, and ran a leg on a world record 4x1 with fellow Cowboy to be Mike Gaetcher.

'I don't think most get this track/football field. I did both as do a lot of football players, I was a footballer who ran track, as are all these guys.

Add Matt Jones, 6-6, 242 lbs, ran a 4.37 at the combine. Miserable NFL failure. And he was a college football player as well!

Couldn't catch a cold....
