Since the Super Bowl era began, the Dallas cowboys have played in/won Super Bowls in every other decade.

1960s (granted the SB era didn't start until 1967) 0 appearances, 0 victories

1970s 5 appearances, 2 victories

1980s 0 appearances, 0 victories

1990s 3 appearances, 3 victories

2000s 0 appearances, 0 victories

2010s ???

While there is plenty of work to be done, the Cowboys are in good shape to keep this trend going.

We can do it. The metrics look very good. Nice analysis. :D

Well i've been waiting for 15 years now so i'm ready! Probably need a coach with the leadership qualities that Landry and Johnson had, maybe Wade can morph into that but I doubt it.

Yep, fate is on our side. How can we lose?

(And, no, I'm not asking anyone to list the many reasons we can lose. I know a lot of you live for that, but it's just a rhetorical question. :) )

Its funny. I think about this too from time to time.

Also, if you look at the 80's there were a bunch of "almosts" with Danny White.

Then you look at the 00's and there was one maybe two almosts that we will never know if we could have stolen atleast one SB (Seattle and and then the 13-3 season).

When 2010 rang in I thought to myself... thank goodness that decade is over. lol

We are overdue for at least an appearance in the big show. I think we are maybe one OL, one WR and one impact player at ILB or safety away.

We start the decade with a:

Pro Bowl QB
Pro Bowl WR
Pro Bowl TE
All-Pro OLB
Borderline and likely future 2nd Pro Bowler at OLB
All-Pro NT
Pro Bowl CBs

We are close and there is no team that I think is definitely better than us heading into the 2011 season.

Great post. We are starting the decade with a loaded roster.

You can add to your list a game breaking, game changing RB.

That has yet to be definitively proven so I wanted to be a touch conservative with the least.

Felix has answered every single question there is about ability: he can run inside/outside, he can catch, he is lethal on screens and he can pickup the blitz. All he has to prove is he can handle 15-20 carries per game and hold up. I really think way too many people have taken it as a foregone conclusion that he can't but I see no medical evidence to suggest any obvious history of fragility. I would classify one of his injuries as pedestrian (hammy pull) and the two others as freak (tore foot tendon running in practice, PCL injury when landed awkwardly on his knee).

I'll certainly be thrilled if we follow that trend and win a handful of championships in this decade. It's about time that things got back to the way they're supposed to be with Dallas winning Championships. :)

You can add that we just extended Wade's contract.... yay!

:banghead:

Now, going by just the facts of function...for the past nine seasons, nine DIFFERENT teams have emerged from the NFC Championship game to the Super Bowl....and change is a very relevant variable in the present.

If that is the case... then I'm going to really be bummed when the calender turns over to 2020. :(

The Cowboys will buck that trend. It's time for the NFC to dominate with Dallas leading the way. It's the natural order of things.:D
