This is the game

Could this be the game? A game against a desperate, better than their record indicates, Carolina team, in front of a national audience? Could this be the game where the Cowboys begin to embody the team many of us thought they'd be way back at the end of training camp?

You know, that team that overnight, became better overall; better offensively for Tony Romo to navigate now that he doesn't have to force it to you know who? Not to mention, much better in the lockerroom?

We just knew that at the start of this season, our offense would be clicking and the defense would be rocking. Well friends, here we are. Sitting at 1-1 and just coming off a tough loss to a division rival. A game that we all know we should have won. But as it stands, those first two games have led us to understand very little about our team. Question marks are everywhere.

Will Tony continue his - hot one game, cold the next? Multiple turnovers in a game that eventually suck the life out of the players? Team-wide mental breakdowns? Can the defense find their pass rush again? Force a turnover? Gain confidence? Will Wade be able to shape up the defense? And how about Jason Garrett and the playbook? Lots of questions.

Let me make this rather easy for ya. Many of the questions will be answered tonight. Not all of them, but most of them. My gut says the Cowboys are ready to begin their ascend. This game will be the game where we see a sense of urgency. The Panthers just happen to be the unfortunate team on the schedule that gets to witness this change in the Dallas Cowboys.

I expect this game to be somewhat of a decisive Dallas win. Not exactly a blowout, but a game that stands out. A game that can be reflected on later in the season as the game that the Cowboys let everybody know that they were ready to take their play to the next level.

Carolina is just the first of many steps in the right direction.

Is this the game that this "defense" actually gets a sack? A takeaway? That is what I am looking for. I am sure Tony will be Tony, but, this defense ain't helping for anything.

I didn't watch the whole game yesterday between the Chargers and Dolphins, but, they did show a stat where only two teams defenses do not have a takeaway in the NFL.

Miami and Dallas.

this is the game for the coaches to say we're sending a message to the NFC east and to our players, we will not die and we will not give in and I dont care if i have to pound your bodies through the season, we are going to win.

The bottom line is that the Cowboys are probably a better football team then the Carolina Panthers, who are 0-2.

If the Cowboys win, they will have beaten a team they were suppose to beat.

If the Cowboys lose, they will have lost to a team that is probably not as good as they are and the Cowboys will be 1-2 Overall and in the NFC Conference.

Unfortunately, this Defense may be ripe for the picking, so it makes it very difficult to guess what is going to happen.

If the Defense plays above average, the Cowboys should win this game by 2 Touchdowns.

the panthers are a terrible team. we should win by 10 at least. our next test won't be till oct 25th. so far we have failed the only test we have had.

Games against teams we "should beat" always scare me for some reason.

Hopefully, we see improvement in all phases of the game from the Cowboys.

A win may not "prove anything" against the panthers, but a loss could prove disasterous.

Don't worry, the Panthers stink. We'll win tonight and all will (temporarily) be right with the world again.

As long as Dallas' oline keeps playing the way it has Dallas is going to be a force. When they play up to their potential Dallas is capable of beating any team in the NFL.

With the Defense playing the way they are, I don't think there is a "gimme" game.

This is very true. Tony and the boys will put up points, but Carolina has some players. Williams/Stewart are legit and so is Steve Smith. If Delhomme has time, he has proven to be a very capable QB.

I take nothing for granted when it comes to this team.

14 more games till Wade is gone.

I am ready as ever to see Dallas get straight again. The defense can't actually be that bad IMO. We will see a resurgence as well at some point no doubt. Realistically you want to see quality play against quality teams that produce some Ws along the way. I am waiting to see what this team does against that brutal December schedule. That stretch run will tell us all we need to know.

That game was last week and the Cowboys failed.

That stretch run won't mean squat if the Cowboys don't win the games they play now. Nothing is guaranteed. The Cowboys need to win the early to mid season games and worry about December when they get there.

I don't trust that this team has any heart...I'm not gonna get too excited about them until they show some fight, on either side of the ball, when it matters most.

So far this season, I keep seeing the same team that got blown out by the Eagles with the playoffs on the line. Haven't seen anything yet to indicate that they are any different

The players, coaches, and owner all say good things at times but actions speak louder than words. And so far, the actions are very concerning....

I think the offense and special teams are focused and performing this year...but the defense is absolutely terrible. Shocking when your head coach is known as a good defensive coach over an almost 30 year career. Our defense is ranked 32...worst in the league...wow.

You sure do use "our" and "we" a lot for a person that isn't even a fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

Tonight my friends, was the first step in the right direction. Sure, it was vs. an 0-2 team. But an 0-2 team with a QB, when hot, can murder defenses. Let's not forget DeAngelo Williams who can break one at any time. Let's not forget that the Panthers still have some players on D too.

The Panthers were hungry and desperate. All the makings of a very dangerous team.

The Cowboys handled the adversity early on. And then stepped up in a big way in the second half of the game. Offense and especially the defense took huge steps in the right direction.

Defense gets my MVP for the game. Honorable mention goes to Felix and Tashard.

This was the game that we will look back on. The season has only just begun my friends.

As expected, someone like Zero states we should win by 10 and when we do, he will state it was against a bad team and therefore, meaningless.
