Lawyers for Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and six other NFL players are asking a federal judge to halt a lockout imposed by owners, saying an injunction is needed to "stop the irreparable harm being inflicted today." A hearing on the issue is scheduled for April 6 in St. Paul, Minn.

The current players say they can't afford to wait for the NLRB to conclude its investigation and issue a ruling. The lockout has shutdown free agency, prevented player movement and kept players from working out at team facilities.

"Players are suffering irreparable harm now, before games are lost ... Absent immediate injunctive relief, it will be impossible to turn back the clock or quantify in damages these lost opportunities," the filing said.

Why does one side need to be broken in order for a deal to be reached?

Because to both sides, it is more about winning than solving. The one thing that backers of either side fail to realize is that this deal is not just about the next CBA but also future CBAs when the next contract expires. That is where the greed (of both sides) shines and why the players are trying every tactic they can in a desperate attempt to hold on or grab as much leverage as they can for future negotiations. It is also why the owners want to tilt the CBA back toward their side more.

Because people enjoy a good breaking. :)

There's a long history in sports of owners preferring to try to break the union over actually negotiating a deal. And it makes sense - break the union, get a more favorable deal than you could get any other way. And the NFLPA hasn't exactly proven to be a rock-solid union in the past.

Because a Billionaire believes they are much smarter then a Millionaire and they can afford to prove it to them in the long run......

And the hot iron here is, that usually those ultra rich are the superior in the field as well.

Jimmy Cochran doesn't often help, unless things have really been butchered in the field. Here, with a collection of heads more recently, the owners have the air control of that battlefield.

Suffering irreparable harm? Seriously.

You made the bed, now lye in it.

Divide and Conquer!!!!

Break these fools!!!

Owner's have more money, better lawyers and time on their side.

Can someone refresh my memory:

Which side was it that decertified at 4:00 while still 'listening' to a proposal at 4:25?

Which side wanted college players to forego their 'graduation day' to the pro ranks to promote an agenda those college players currently have no part in?

Which side wants to end the draft, tags, and essentially everything put in place for the sport to have competitive balance?

Yeah, cuz whichever side that was is the side that I want to see broken.

The only ones coming out ahead on this is the lawyers. As usual.

these dummies on both sides are about the kill the Golden Goose.

Wait till these "Bozo" Players get a look at their replacement players.

I think Walmart is hiring "greeters"....:laugh1:

How about this -

Players and owners can agree to disagree and part ways.

Players can start their own league - with their own rules, salaries, team names, logos, stadiums, etc.

And the owners can go about finding players willing to play for the 'mere pittance' and 'slavery' conditions they insist upon.

And then we as fans will get to decide which league we prefer.

Everybody wins, right?

Because Jerry Richardson says so.

Dez might have to think about a new career in "pimping" just to pay off those jewelry debts...

Owner's opted of the deal that would have allowed football to continue because they wanted more money. This is the side I would like to see broken.
