He makes comments like "you don't build with tony romo"

The reason he said that? Because he is not.

He feels we are a few players away. He can believe that, and so can some of us, because Romo is the wild card, the xfactor, etc.

Jerry feels that with a few players and a little luck we can get a giants- like Super Bowl run.... And win.

So all we need is:
- a respectable, serviceable defense.
- Romo to do only what he has to (because defense is holding their own)
- little bit o luck

- A transfer to the Arena League.

Seriously.
I know everybody feels that Romo will be effective, but keep in mind, he hasn't even thrown a ball yet. What if he's done, where does that leave us from a team standpoint as well as cap shape.

I don't think you are wrong, but that Giants defense was dominant in the playoffs. The only QB I can think that won it with a serviceable defense was Manning with the Colts, but that defense was playing well during the playoffs. The NO defense got a ton of turnovers the year they won it.

I can't remember how good some Broncos, Rams defenses were but It seems like they were pretty good.

Assuming you know what Jerry thinks look at the 2011 Colts and the 2013 Packers. They've done what your saying Jerry thinks he can do and were exposed as weak rosters without their QB's and most people would agree that without Romo this team would'nt have won 8 games so maybe with a serviceable defense OR a HEALTHY one you get to find out how good this team can or can't be. Assuming Jerry does think that, it's been proven you can win allot of games and even a SB with a good QB and a serviceable defense.

I agree with the concerns about Romo. We don't know how he is going to come back from these back surgeries. I would feel much more comfortable if we were more committed to running the football and went out and either brought in a FA guard or spent a high draft pick on one. To me Zach Martin or Lewan in rd1 would give us a great platform to becoming the dominate offense in the NFL.

Just those 4 steps alone would have resulted in making the playoffs last year and possibly if not probably winning 1 or 2 games. We still need to improve more to reach championship status.

I have had nightmares over the past 10 years about what Jerry is thinking regarding to his football decisions. It is a dark place, I don't recommend anyone going there.

Maybe he also said it because he (correctly) realizes that "rebuilding" is a dumb idea, and that pretty much every team that has intentionally tried to be bad for long-term gain has soon found they don't have to try to be bad anymore.

Rebuilding and trying to be bad are not the same thing, where do you pull this stuff out of...never mind.

Yes, because trading away your QB and wanting the highest picks possible in future drafts is usually associated with winning.
