Oklahoma QB Landry Jones explains why he will never play for the Cowboys

Now, reading that, what are you expecting? That he can't stand them and will never play here?

Wrong!

http://cowboysblog.***BANNED-URL***...-why-he-will-never-play-for-the-cowboys.html/

“It’s a huge joke because I’ll never go to the Cowboys,” Jones said Monday during Big 12 media days at The Westin Galleria hotel. “That would be so fun to be able to go back and play with him. I wish him nothing but the best at the Cowboys, but I don’t know if there’s ever a chance that me and him will ever play together. They got a pretty good guy down there that’s going to be playing there for a long time.”

Tony Romo is a very good NFL quarterback, but he’s 32 and the Cowboys could always use a young, strong-armed passer to learn under the guidance of a veteran quarterback.

However, that would likely come from a draft pick in the later rounds. Most likely, Jones won’t be available at that time. The Oklahoma quarterback nearly entered the NFL Draft this year, filling out the paperwork that allows experts to project were a prospect would be chosen. Jones said he was informed that he would go in the first round.

In summary, he won't play for the Cowboys because Romo is good, he is a first round pick who will be taken before the Cowboys pick.

That is his explanation.

Nothing like an attention grabbing headline to tell a non story.

I stopped letting the media get to me a while ago.

They are like kids at the end of the day. Grown *** kids.

If we pick late in the first and he's there I pull the trigger.

Poor man's sam bradford IMO. I don't trust any of the qbs that come out of that OU system.

So, because Tony Romo is a good quarterback, he will never come to the Cowboys? Is it because, he would actually have to learn from a great QB to help excel him at the next level?

Wow, do I sense entitlement?

How did you come up with that? I didn't get that impression at all from his comments in that article.

I would not be upset getting a player like Landry Jones. I think it is highly unlikely at this time but if we were in a position to get him I would have no problem with it.

The real story here is, Landry Jones in the first round? Take it from an OU fan, this guy isn't an NFL quarterback. Stephen McGee is not an NFL quarterback either, but he's miles better than Landry Jones.

Jones is an immobile statue without the nerve to stand in an NFL pocket. He is easily rattled, and often appears scared when the defense is getting consistent pressure.

If they didn't put a title like that no one would read their horrible pieces.

I am guilty of jumping to a conclusion. Didn't read the full article at first.

No, I wouldn't. I'd rather take the Tyler Wilson kid from Arkansas. Never was a fan of Bradford.

Pretty much Bradford 2.0. OU quarterbacks are used to playing in fast pace, wide open offenses. It's hard to transition to the NFL where you have to make a throw with a 300 lb defender a half a foot from your knee.

Thanks for the clarification. Kind of ironic considering the the point of this thread about poor journalism using misleading article titles. :)

I agree, he should really just be happy he gets a starting job anywhere

I wouldn't. I don't really trust OU quarterbacks. They all seem to have a lack of a certain toughness factor. I think it's a product of the system. They just all strike me as fragile. I think Bradford and Jones are the type that are more comfortable fitting into a system as just another cog, and I want a quarterback that's going to absolutely take over an offense.
OU quarterbacks strike me as old before their time. Not mature, but old. Like Drew Bledsoe staring at the rush kind of old.
