No longer are the power schools that dominant over the lay of the land, with a few exceptions. No longer are FCS schools a guaranteed victory for FBS schools. With all the TV deals, wide open offenses, and players wanting to play right away instead of sit and wait their turn, a lot of the lesser schools have dramatically improved.
Sure, back in the day, we would get a huge upset here and there, but that was more of the sun shines on a dog's butt every now and again scenario. Today, upsets are far more frequent. FCS schools are consistently holding their own against FBS schools, winning many of those battles. FBS dominant teams are consistently losing to lesser FBS schools.
I find today's game so much more exciting. It was actually kind of boring knowing that 8-10 schools every year would dominate the whole thing. We still have a few dominant schools, but there are so many more fighting for that piece of Championship pie.
