The fine folks at HBO's Showtime's Inside the NFL, have been kind enough to forward quotes from tonight's show that have to do with the Cowboys.
Here they are for your reading pleasure:
Warren Sapp on receiver Roy Williams (thumbs down):
"The legend coming back to Texas? ... I don't get it. I am trying to figure it out. I understand what he did in college to get to the Lions. But what he has done with the Lions does not warrant giving up a first and a third (draft pick). That is a franchise number that you are giving up right there."
Phil Simms on Williams (thumbs up):
"You look at Roy Williams, why did they get him? Because they are looking to the future. How much longer can Terrell Owens play? He can't play five more years. Tony Romo, Jason Whitten, they have linebackers, offensive lineman, all of them going into their prime. They are not going to go out and try to draft a wide receiver and think they are going to get him ready in a year-or-so to go with these other players. It's about replacing TO when the time comes."
Conspiracy theorist Cris Collinsworth (sucking his thumb):
"Maybe Jerry (Jones) wanted to see Pacman explode and TO explode (because Roy Williams will make more money). Because it is about to hit the fan down there. Maybe the only one that can save it, is the guy who is now about to play quarterback and that is Brad Johnson."
Sapp on former teammate Brad Johnson (thumbs up)
"An accurate quarterback, a championship, someone that knows the ropes and how to distribute the ball. He's played with worse malcontents than T.O. He played with Keyshawn (Johnson, Tampa Bay). Keyshawn was kicked off the team, away from us. Terrell Owens is a choirboy compared to Keyshawn. He'll get the ball and distribute it and they'll be fine."
In the words of Edward R. Murrow: Good night and good luck.
