This late afternoon game has me thinking of the Texas Stadium

Shadows - I will miss that Shadow just over mid-field and my mind thinks of Irvin running a cross right into it - or Jay Novacek galloping into the shadow -like Landry's Fedora, it is a part of the stadium's allure, and will always be etched in my mind.

How about you, what's your favorite Texas Stadium moment?

Shadows, too.
The ominous late winter shadows that arrived early and dragged it silhouttes across the consecrated artificial turf where blood, sweat and tears pored forth . . . . (Sorry, I was channeling John Facenda, you know the guy with the NFL voice.)

Um, if the fedora is part of the stadium's allure, demolish that barn. Man, that hat was ugly!!
But hey, there, my favorite TS moment was I guess Tony Dorsett scooting from near the end zone to the other side for a TD.
That or Crazy Ray falling on his behind on the steps.

Memories.....How anticlimatic is it that we play the ravens in the last game on this hallowed ground?

Well, it won't really be the last game there. Hopefully we got a couple of playoff games there and close it out on the way to the Super Bowl. Now that would be fitting.

With the roof open, the new digg's should have the same shadow effect.

But is the new stadium sitting in the same direction as TS?

Good point.:D
Now if we can just get CBS, Madden and Summerall calling the game and game breaks from Musberger then it will be just like the good ole days.:laugh2:

Bingo...........A cowboy/Commanders game or any NFC East game isn't the same without Pat Summerall and John Madden. When i think of Cowboys football and Texas Stadium Pat Summerall comes to mind instantly. The two just go together.

It is oriented close to the same. Texas Stadium's axis is aligned directly to the NE-SW, while the new stadium is aligned 10 degrees or so more to the East. Jerry Jones has said that most games will be played with the roof closed. The movable part of the roof will be translucent, but it won't create the same effect when it is closed.

The tv crews hate the stark shadows created by the stadium now. Adjusting the cameras between the dark and light constantly.

For its final game, it will host an NFC championship game against the G-Men.

Now that, would be a great ending. I will most definitely cry regardless, that stadium has meant a lot to millions of people. So many memories.

I doubt it will be anything like the shadows in TS as the new stadium will have that colossal video unit hanging down in the middle of the field...

I really wonder what kind of shadows the video board will cast. I think the shadows will obviously be different from Texas Stadium, but just as crazy.
As a photographer and videographer in a former life, I can tell you that the light contrast at Texas Stadium is an absloute nightmare for the camera crews. Cameras can perceive less than half the dynamic range of the human eye. The human eye can detect and maintain detail through about 14 stops of light from light to dark. Cameras only do about 5.

Since I was a kid, I grew up following the Cowboys (I am 30 now). My old man was a Boys fan and every Sunday it was church then Cowboys. Herchel Walker was my favorite player and I was upset when we traded him (I was young). I was in middle school/high school during the dynasty runs of the 90's. I have only been to 1 game in TS and it was with my dad in 2003. (We beat the Eagles). I remember walking up to the very stadium I watched every week on TV and just the feeling of the great history there filling me. I just took everything in and basked in the memories I had of the Boys for a while. Sure it was kind of a dumpy place as far as stadiums go, but there was just something in the air that energized me. I couldnt believe how fast the time went by when I was there. I know sometimes you have to move on, but I will miss TS.

The new stadium looks awesome though, I saw it in July when I went to Six Flags. It will be a chance for some new memories. A new Dynasty run to go with the new stadium would be great!

And Phyllis George on the half time show.
Remember the wooden board where they put up scores?

Hmm I always thought the shadow sucked..Distracting and hard to see what's going on sometimes on TV.

As for crowns, our high school field had a huge crown, I think on the sideline you could only see people from almost the chest up on the other side of the crown! My legs used to burn just running up it! haha. Course it's gone now since they installed field turf several years ago.
