This LB room has some solid pieces

Overshown has been injured more games than has played. just had another major injury, second one of his career. he was slightly above average when he played.
James is a Rookie and looks to be a special teamer...
Liafau showed a little to be above average LB. he needs to keep improving.

Murray is not on his third team in as many years...yeah former first rounder who keeps getting pushed out of his teams, but hey, he was a first rounder.

they are average. Murray is a check the box kind of LB we traded for, because Kendricks walked.

this is a sad looking bunch. needs a lot of protection from DL, specially DTs and they sucks too.

Yeah I know about the pass rush but that doesn’t help you when the opponent doesn’t have to pass because they are killing you on the ground.

you want to know the truth, I think we should have switched to 3-4 defense two years ago...Micah would be so much better in a Ware type roll, and less wear and tear lining up right over the LTs shoulder or trying to cut between the LTA and RG. Osa would be a great 3-4 DE. now, even this year we could still do it, except Eberflus is a 4-3 DC. Toia and Mazi would be better fit as a NT, where they are not expected to collapse the pocket, but just hold up point of attack allowing LBs to flow to the ball. the RDE, is a concern as most of what we have are smallish, but rotational group could work to keep them from getting worn out.

imagine Eze, Micah coming from each side. and rotate others through depending on down and distance.

Nope that LB room needs more studs and playmakers. Look at the Eagles LB room/group. Plus the DTs that play in front of them. 1st game of the season is not going to be pretty.

One could argue with one of the worst defenses in football last season Jalon Walker the GA LB who went 15 to the Falcons might have been the pick at 12 to team up with Parsons under Eberflus tutoring and gone with Hoffman or Bass at guard .

It was smart to at least draft two DT’s even though they were late picks to go with the group in place and it’s nice to have OSA back in The middle of the trench . There is a reason this is DC # 3 in 3 yrs in Dallas .

I'm with ya all the way on this.
But just like you said we are lacking at the strength DE positions though. Maybe Kneeland bulking up a bit as an experiment to try out at one.
Not sure of the other.

Also, Eberflus has LBs with a different skill set in Dallas and I believe he's going to adjust his scheme just a little and blitz these LBs more because they're good at blitzing.

I hope Liufau takes over 1 of the starting LB positions, but he'll have to earn it. 2nd year leap could make Marist a damn good player in this scheme. Sanborn and Murray question is where are they going to line up? Murray said MLB, but idk. Lastly, I'm not even counting Overshown in the mix for this season.

And while I like Liufau, he is often fooled by simple mis direction or a decent pulling guard has shown to wash him out without much problem.

Instincts are just such a huge part of being a linebacker imo.

Hopefully Eberflus shows his colors as a linebacker whisperer to give me a little more confidence in the 2nd line of defense.

Nah, I think you nailed it. Liaufa was sent on blitzes a lot maybe for the reasons you listed. Sanborn may diagnose the best of the LBs in the room, so my guess is more dog blitz, but it would be awesome if Flus could do some whispering with these guys.

I did a "who?" when his name was called.

A total head scratcher pick that Eberflus must have seen something in as his personal pet I guess.
