Talk me off the ledge guys. I am an idiot I know. I thought maybe we would grab a running back, wide receiver, linebacker, guard, defensive tackle, and cornerback in free agency so we wouldn’t have reach for need in the draft. I know it’s early and there is plenty of trash to pick through but the free agency class stinks. The Cowboys cleared all this cap space and signed guys they could have gotten a month from now.

With the first 3 picks the Cowboys will probably draft a cornerback, linebacker, and running back in some order. So depending on how the draft plays out they are going to have to reach or be dependent on the teams in front of the Cowboys to make a mistake. The Cowboys will probably miss out on a stud wide receiver, defensive end or defensive tackle. This is a frightening scenario. I hope I am wrong. Please someone give me hope.

Way too early, let's see what happens for the rest of fa. There are still plenty of players that can upgrade this roster, all we truly lost was Lewis, who many wanted to be replaced prior to last season.

I hope we can get Cooper Kupp. I am holding out hope that we can get a deal done with him. So far it looks like business as usual. We have lost our best corner, starting running back, second best defensive end, and our all time great guard retired. We replaced them with two JAGs.

Too much cap space to sit on. 50-60m I think

yes, that's exactly what it'll be.

A shame to sit relatively high in the order to only take the positions you need.

I'd wager we're looking at 1-DE, 2-CB, 3-RB, 5-LB/DT. Sad part is, even that approach doesn't fill all the holes. They literally need to sign two starters in free agency to make even this situation feasible.

I don’t get the strategy at all with all the holes but let’s be honest everyone drafts for need. But expecting anyone past the 3rd to contribute early on is ludicrous

Sorry Bro Im right there on that ledge with you. I agree who we have signed we could have gotten later.
Did we even reach out to anyone?
I'm hoping for a little better activity today in FA
As of right now our team has taken a step backwards and we've created more needs,
I have to say these signings are a little way out there but at least the Teams that are spending are showing that they want to win.
I agree WHY do these restructures
Are the Jones Lucy
Are we fans Charlie Brown?

Maybe the Cowboys believe that Overshown and Diggs will have an Adrian Peterson recovery. Maybe they really trust Hoffman and Guyton. Sam Williams said that he will be ready so maybe the return of the injured players will put us over the top. I mean everyone forgets the Mingo trade but Dak never played with him. I mean a draft pick plus, CeeDee, Mingo, Tolbert, and Turpin can’t be that bad.

THIS LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER NEEDS DRAFT

(Hope that helps)

I think there’s a better than 50% chance we trade back in the first round to gain some more Day 2/3 picks.

This FO has no intention on improving the team via free agency and committed, however misguidedly, to trying to improve the team solely through the draft.
Just explain to me why they would get over $50 million in cap space. They gonna just roll it over again.

Agree
Only objective is to fill the seats in the rooms

Problem is who is a team trading up
for?

Lewis is the only loss thus far. Golston is a rotational type, never will be a full time starter in this league.

It is perfectly fine to sit out 1st wave of free agency. Outside of Washington, no team has made a impactful move in my opinion. 49ers/Seahawks gutted their rosters, Eagles lost multiple starters and Vikings lost their QB. I would say we are doing ok thus far, but they have to start filling holes with quality options, not bottom level players. Time will tell if they have changed.
