This may be the strangest schedule in Cowboys history to-date

This season's schedule may be the oddest one in all of Cowboys history to date.

  1. The Cowboys are playing a regular-season game (Jaguars) in London. First time in franchise history.
  2. The Cowboys will not have played an NFC East game until this upcoming Giants game - their 7th game of the season. Never before have the Cowboys gone this deep into a season without having yet played an NFC East opponent.
  3. The Cowboys play the Eagles twice in 18 days. Can't remember the last time the Cowboys had two regular-season games with the same opponent scheduled so closely together.
  4. The Cowboys will play all of their NFC East divisional games within just a 10-game span. I don't think that's ever happened before.
  5. The Cowboys have three home games in a row. That's not too remarkable, but it's not common either, and it adds to the oddity of an already-unusual schedule.

We also have 3 consecutive home games before flying to London which will be like another home game. I hear the fan club UK Cowboys Fans is really excited about this game. The flip side to all of this is the back loaded road games. It's important to stack up wins now while at home. Then again, we are 3-0 on the road so far.:flagwave:

The only schedule I care about is like this one:

W-W-W-W-W...........

It would be entertaining if the Cowboys started a season 0-7 and the media and haters were in uproarious, ecstatic full throat............and then Dallas suddenly ripped off thirteen consecutive wins for a 9-7 record and Super Bowl title that left them speechless with egg on their faces.

all of our divisional games start out at home and then we go to London which counts as a road game but it will be a home crowd then the final 3 divisional games vs those teams are on the road. strange

That, my friend, is a horrible scenario.

We actually played Tampa Bay twice within a 14 day period in 1990 during the regular season. I always found that strange sine they weren't a divisional opponent...

Is that a fact? I never knew that it was possible to play a non-divisional opponent twice in the regular season.

EDIT: just checked, wow you're right

I'm still ticked about the Jacksonville game being moved to London. I would have been so nice to drive the 3-4 hour drive to see the Cowboys play. My boss has season tickets to the Jaguars (he lives there) and he has told me repeatedly when the Cowboys come to town we would go to the game together. He is upset himself because that is a home game he can't go to or even sell his tickets to someone else.

I remember that. You could see that young Cowboys team improving.

Weird. What was the NFL's rationale for that?

back in the dark ages, when there were only 28 teams and the nfc west had 4, nfc central/east and over in the afc, the east had 5, central had 4 and the west had 5, I think it was common to play a non divisional conference opponent twice, if you played the division in the other conference with 4 teams.

actually, after looking at the schedule from that season, it just looks like if you were a last place team, you played all last place teams, since we played both the jets and chargers. either that or it was randomly generated
