This might be the worst defensive tackle class in years

Give me Alim McNeil and Bobby Brown, and with Gallimore and Carlos Watkins -- I think you have the makings of a solid DT group. Hill is a wild card.

I don't agree with the assessment at all.

The draft may be devoid off a top-tier talent at DT, but I think the position is offers a bunch of very good prospects in rounds 2-3.
You beat me to it!!!!!

No bluechippers, but nice talent in rounds 2-4. Be a monstrous crying shame if we don't take advantage of it.

I doubt more than 3 DT's from this end up as more than role players. I do think there are alot of nice role players, but still role players.

Wouldnt break my heart if we punt and go after Richardson for a year after the draft
As I said prior, rather take one of those inside/outside players like a Basham or Payton Turner and kick them inside on the nickel and take a 1 Tech early day 3.

I think this entire draft is a weak draft. There are a few really good position players and the QB getting a lot of attention, but otherwise this draft is a bigger crap shoot than usual. The Cowboys are going to need a little luck to go with a lot of preparation.
I totally agree. Not to mention, there are lots of players that either didn't play or only played a handful of games due to C, making this class very tough to evaluate. If we don't use our extra picks in round 3 and 4 to move up in the 1st or 2nd round, I would consider trading those picks to a team in exchange for higher picks next season. Like trading our 3rd this year for a teams 2nd round pick next season.

I like that some of these prospects seem to be falling into later rounds. Get me Alim McNeil (probably 2nd round but might slide to 3rd) plus Marvin Wilson or Shelvin or Brown (all of these possible in round 4 or later it seems) and I think you have improved your defense significantly.

Wilson - if his struggles were truly because of injury and he returns to form is a steal. If not, you took an appropriate risk.

My problem with Brown is his motor. You CANNOT draft a guy with an uncertain motor on the line.
McNeil seems about the best for what we need.

And yet we rotate DL so that they can have a break for the motor every series now. I watched Brown and he dominates at times. If all he did was dominate at times, it would be more times than I have seen interior Dallas players dominate in quite a few years.

Just read an article on the Athletic, which I cannot post, but it was from Bob McGinn breaking down the positional group.

Been saying for awhile, Barmore is only being considered a 1st rd pick cause of the lack of talent at the position, showing up late and the helmet he wears. If he was so good, why was he playing half of the snaps? He is not like some of the former Bama players at the position. In my opinion, a 2nd rd talent with upside, similar to Davis from the Chiefs.

What do we have after him?

Onzuk (opt out), Nixon (1 yr wonder with character concerns), Tufele (another opt out that needs work), Wilson (coming off of a terrible yr, always hurt), Togiai (1 yr of production/tweener), Milton Williams (workout warrior, who couldn't dominate, low level competition)

It's an awful class, without any stars whatsoever. Personally, I really like McNeal, but not until rd 3 at the earliest. Hope this team doesn't reach to fill a need. I much rather take an inside/outside DE and look to add a 1T on day 3.
Well this is less than optimal: (

Ah, the big 1Techs usually don’t get much fanfare anyway. That’s usually left for the 3Techs that are good interior pass rushers. It’s not a sexy position. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some of these guys in this draft that won’t be really good players.

There's about 3 that would transform this D.

Instead, we'll take a lanky interior guy and a 335 pound slug in the 7th. That's Jerry's MO. He's inept when evaluating DTs.

A bunch of backup rotational type DT's. This class isn't weak.

the class is terrible when it comes to impact players / starters on DT. Theres barely any.

If you look for more DT Rotational Players i agree you might find one in Rounds 3-4.
