Jerry went and rescued him from a team going nowhere...I mean if he is in Miami this year Parcells would have probably fired him last week....But Jerry brought him to Dallas, elevated him OVER Sparano...almost hired him to be the head coach outright. Laced the team with talent up and down the roster, giving him all kinds of weapons..and probably assured him to be the next head coach in Dallas. He let all of those guys interview with Miami to repay the favor of them allowing Garret to come to Dallas...and this is how he repays him? Baltimore is terrible. Didn't they win like 3 games? They have no offensive line. They have no QB. They have no WRs. I love Jerry because he is loyal and will pay through the nose to win....it is high time these players and coaches start giving the fans their money's worth and honoring the tradition of the star.

I agree, Garrett owes Jerry something and I also believe he would be making a HUGE mistake taking the Ravens job.

Garrett has 1 year as a coordinator so far and was up and down in that year. It is premature for him to take a HC position. The HC job requires a lot more than simply Xs & Os but has the added responsibilities of meeting with the media, handling personnel issues, discipline, and directing all of the assistants and staff. Garrett is NOT ready for all of that IMO, no one would be at this stage in their career.

The best thing for Garrett would be to stay here at least another year and see if he can mature a bit more.

Yeah, well I have a bigger problem w/ Parcells building this team, abandoning it and then trying to pull it back apart.

I understand the loyalty argument but face it, Jerry would can his *** tomorrow if he thought he could do better so I don't blame Garrett for taking the job as it is a promotion and he will make more money.

It's easy to say that when oppurtunity isn't staring at you in the face. I've been at my company for only five years but if another place offered me twice or three times as much money and more control, you could bet that I'd look into it heavily.

FYI-Andy Reid was never a coordinator, neither was Tom Coughlin(despite being a college HC), Mike Thomlin was only a coordinator for 1 yr(and he's only 35), and I believe Jack Del Rio was only a coordinator for a very short time.

IMHO-I believe Garrett was BORN to be an HC.

Jason Garrett owes Jerry Jones something?

That is an odd argument.

The only thing Jason Garrett owed Jerry Jones was to bust his arse and do his job as Offensive Coordinator to the best of his ability.

Period.

The man is trying to better himself, Jerry Jones has expressed his gratitude and well wishes for Front Office Personnel and Coaches in the past leaving for better opportunities.

I think it would be selfish of Jerry Jones to crap all over Jason Garrett's decision to leave, if he chooses to do so.

Plus, they have a defense that thinks it runs the team...and not the coach. I realize they have some talent, and VERY nice training facilities, but why leave now?

Your at the most, 2 years away from being handed the reins to the Dallas Cowboys - a owner who wants to win at all cost, a team that will be moving into probably the greatest venue ever built, which could even be your first year of coaching??? You played for this team, you've coached for this team, the owner went out of the way to get you to this team....and now you leave?

Is it really all about money....didn't Sean Payton turn down the Raiders because it was the wrong opportunity. Garret will not win in Baltimore and he will turn into Norv Turner....who suffered through many years with bad teams before he inherited a 14 - 2 outfit. Trust me, Jerry will take care of Garett...heck he already has...again, if Jerry does not bring him to Dallas, Jason is looking for a job right now because Parcells would have gotten rid of him

but don't you want him fired?

It was his first year as a coordinator. He seems smart enough to learn a lesson or two and to right the wrongs he let happen this year.

that is the attitude that we take....which is opposite of New England..and we sit home and they win Super Bowls. Weiss and Crenell saw that thing through before they left..and they all still got jobs. The kid they have now running the offense admitted he is not ready and therefore is not interviewing. If all people are going to do is use the star power of our franchise for fame, money and fortune...we will never get back to the top

So did Jason Garrett not owe Miami something? Heck, why wasn't he forced to stay there "until the job was done"?

That's crazy ;)

Jason Garrett, just like many other Assistants, want to be Head Coaches one day and generally always have their eye on that prize. It should not suprise anyone that he is considering any Head Coaching option.

Jason Garrett doesn't owe this Franchise anything but respect and to work his butt off while he is on the staff.

If Jason Garrett does a crap job, I bet nobody would care if he was fired. Yet, when he wants to turn the tables and basically fire his employer, people get so upset about it.

Yes he does. He was brought in BEFORE a HC was hired and was paid a higher salary in case a HC could not be signed and Garrett ended up as the guy.

Garrett was the QB coach in Miami and got nothing out of his QBs. He was handed the OC job here and could have been the HC if Wade hadn't taken the job. Garrett did a very good job early in the season but seemed to really fade down the stretch in terms of his playcalling.

He has an opportunity to step into the HC position in a year or two when Wade steps down. To be HC for a sucky team is not a promotion IMO.

With Miami as an example, we have already seen that Assistant Coaches get hired before their Head Coach does.

Hiring the Offensive Coordinator first probably represented an easier decision for Jerry Jones than hiring the Head Coach. I think he really struggled to make the decision on Head Coach.

Also, it doesn't matter what the Fan's impression of Jason Garrett is. I am not trying to be condescending with that comment, but Front Office decision makers in the NFL seems to think he has the qualifications to be a Head Coach and I pretty much can gurantee you Jerry Jones probably still feels that way. Now, will that work out, only time will tell.

He does not owe this Franchise anything.

I would almost bet my entire paycheck that Jerry Jones is happy for Jason Garrett. Does he want to lose him? Nope, what Head Coach wants his assistants leaving?

However, I think Jerry Jones is very happy for him.

Jason Garrett should do whatever Jason Garrett wants to do. If I were him, I would give Jerry the choice. You want me as your HC, I'm here. You don't. I'm gone to Baltimore. No way I hang around to be an offensive coordinator when someone else is willing to make me their HC.

I'm telling you right now, you mark it down, if Jerry Jones keeps Wade Phillips and lets Jason Garrett go to Baltimore we will all live to regret it. You can book that, and I don't care what some of you will say about the Giants game.

Wade Phillips is not a Super Bowl winning HC. Jason Garrett isn't either, YET. But one has a future, and the other has already shown what he is.

I've never heard a coach, until yesterday, ever say that the best team didn't win. WHAT? That kind of attitude gets passed on to players and the results won't be good.

I never liked the Wade Phillips hire from the beginning. A 13-3 regular season earned him my silence. Had we gone on to do what we should have done, it would have earned him (not that he cares) my respect. But he did what he has done 3 other times in the post season. 1 and done. And he did it, in his own words, "with the better team."

Well then, if Wade is right, the problem had to be somewhere else. How about preparation and coaching?

Fire Wade, keep Garrett. I know its not popular, but its how I feel.
