This offense is now pass first, then why extend Zeke?

The offensive scheme has clearly been pass first the last several weeks.

Dak is leading the league in passing yards and averaging 36 pass attempts a game.

I understand the frustration with Zeke because since he is now the league's highest paid rusher, more should be expected of him. He only takes what the offensive line or opposing defense gives him. He does not get many yards after first contact. This is my opinion of him this season.

But the point is still, why is the offense passing so much?

The run game is abandoned earlier than it should be in games.

It appears there was no conversations between the front office and the coaching staff on how the offense was going to be ran this offseason. It's clear a RB is not the vocal point of the offense. So why pay one so much money.

There is no planning in this organization and it shows. They locked up a RB for 6 years at $90 million dollars yet completely underutilized him.

Still absolute garbage in the red zone, meaning passing yards mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. Further, these yards are not unique when Zeke and the running game is forcing man on the outside all day long.

Because they are trying to convince themselves that Dak is a 35-40m QB, whats funny is they haven't signed him and he will probably get tagged next season

1st and goal at the 9...four pass plays. No points.

It was still a two-score game in the 3rd quarter. Plenty of time to stay balanced.

Kellen Moore is in over his head and has no feel for the flow of the game.

Never went back to Zeke on the run after a big start. Never went back to a screen to Zeke after the early success.

2 carries for Zeke in the last 3 quarters of the game is an absolute joke with the way he started.

To make him last longer?? Just kidding.

I agree with the OP, but falling behind like today had a lot to do with abandoning the run. At least he was involved in the passing game.

Why do you Daksters always throw other people under the bus when we lose? We had a thread started about the Offensive line by a known Dakster, with no blame on Dak. Now here we have you, when Zeke actually was great in this game, and looked at times like the only one that cared...

I see similarities between the past 4-5 games and the beginning of the 2010 season.

I see the same pass happy offense that I saw under offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. I see an offensive line built to run being compromised by having to back up and block instead of charge and hit.

I see a talented RB wasted. As for the running game, I see impatience on the part of the coaches followd by surrender

Zeke: 12 carries today. More than 23 carries only once this season.

Just as in 2010, players are given roles entirely out of character. Dak is not a pinpoint strong arm passer. He has other strengths that are maximized under certain conditions.

In 2010 Marion Barber was a bruising runner.....for about ten plays. He would fight for extra inches with every ounce of power and strength that he had. Parcells had previously used him as a goal line RB and as a closer when the opponent defense was worn.

Jerry gave him a starter salary and Barber was never starter material.

In the 2009 playoffs against the Eagles, the Cowboys were led by RB Felix Jones
151 yards rushing. In the first 8 games of 2010 he ran more than 9 to times twice as the Cowboys went to 1-7.

This is the offense I see, big numbers, wrong results. Another Jerry Jones engineered fluf team with no substance.

Pass-first and TRASH

We were killing them with Zeke on the first few drives.
If it indeed is a pass-first offense, it needs to go back to a Zeke-first offense

I don't disagree that they need to give Zeke more chances but anyone here who thinks this defense could stop Buffalo from scoring more points is delusional.

Another Zeke excuse thread.

Zeke’s best play was on a pass. Let me guess, if they kept running the Bills would have shut Zeke down and the question would be “why did we trade a 1st for Cooper when we run all the time”?

Because our coaches have no idea what they are doing! There is no plan, rhyme or reason to this offense. It is like a mixed bag of plays, stick your hand in there and pull out the next play.......regardless of the situation. Balance? Hahaha
