This offense should work

If you're keeping score, that makes 5 times in the last 9 games that Dallas has failed to score 10 points. A new definition of ugly in Cowboys history.

A lot of folks are blaming Garrett and Linehan. Those like me quickly blame Dak. Others think it's the receivers, Witten's age, the lack of protection, predictability, etc. The answer is all of the above, sort of.

The real culprit here is evaluation. That, and diagnosing what the offense needs.

This offense should work. I like the idea of being one of the lone power running teams in the NFL. That team that can take advantage of small linebackers and defenses built to stop the high-powered offenses of today.

You simply can't run this offense without a top-tier quarterback. The organization - Jerry, Stephen, Garrett, Linehan, and maybe McClay - somehow refuse to understand this. They think if they build a passing offense with what Dak wants, a la Mississippi State, and use it to complement this superstar running game, it'll all fall in place. Just like 2016 all over again.

But the NFL adjusted. Dak is what he is. A 4th-round pick with very limited arm talent. That'll never change, so for the rest of his time here, he'll see 8-man fronts selling out against that run game, daring him to beat them. He can't, and they know it.

Shame on the powers that be to not recognize this. If other teams can diagnose this, why can't Dallas? How many single-digit scores and sub-200-yard passing games of evidence do they need to see? It's painfully obvious, even to a couch coach like me. (Apologies to CouchCoach.)

Dak's eyes were silver dollars yesterday. As Teddy KGB would say, "check, check, check, check!" If it wasn't for some late game connections with Cole Beasley.....that 170 yards would have been under 100.

People say it's just one game, but it isn't. It's 9 games now. This season looks to be headed to 4 or 5 wins. Did you see Jacksonville's defense yesterday? They might hold Dallas to 1 yard.

Garrett's days have to be numbered now. So are Linehan's, and so are Dak's. The disgust on Jerry and Stephen's faces yesterday was telling, although they should be looking at themselves. They went all-in on this Dak experiment, too. Jerry didn't talk after the game yesterday, which I thought was scientifically impossible.

I'll ask you to turn your eyes northward. There's a young man named Lincoln Riley who is getting a LOT of NFL attention these days. Jerry will need to backup the Brinks truck, but I know he notices. Riley runs a power run game with a dynamic passing offense. Sound like something Zeke could do.

But even that will require the right QB.

This franchise is, once again, in football purgatory.

5 times in last 9 games, actually:(

As for Riley, I watched him work even at East Carolina. Even there they were near the top in the nation on offense...which is nuts.
We all knew that once a place with more latent (like OU) got him, it'd be off to the races.

Big fan of Riley myself having been a Leach fan. Told my buddies yesterday I would love to have him.

Some don't want it dredged up, but it was monumentally stupid to kick Romo to the curb in 2017.

He should have been allowed to compete w Dak in the preseason. There was no downside - if Romo won the job back, Dak backs him up and gets to learn from a master for however long Romo stayed healthy and effective, even if it was a short time.

Now we have a fading Dak backed up by two subpar QBs and neophyte QB coach.

Absolute arrogance and stupidity.

We saw the offense with a top tier QB and the offense was Romo running around buying time outside of the system in order to make a big play.

The scheme is trash.

Bring back Dez. He was right.

Ah, yes, the last game. Nice catch, Catch. I corrected it. (And that was against Philly's 3rd stringers.)

The offense won't work if Dak can't even TRY to throw the ball down the field...one attempt of more than 18 yards, and it was the horrible pass to Jarwin.

2nd and 17 and the Panthers had 8 men in the box. The Cowboys ran the ball. That's on the QB...though going in a 2 TE set is dumb there.

They deserve this. Every bit of it. Reaping and sowing.

So embarrassing.

Spread them out at least.

Instead we are 2 TE's and they laugh and match us up with 8 in the box.

Yeah. This offense should work... In 1975.

After on game, lmao. Our fans are some seriously nutty folk.

OH please.

We know how the story to Jason Garrett season's end.

He's been hurting us for years and we were promised change.

All we did was cut the 1 guy who could actually help us in Dez Bryant. That was your change. Worked nicely.

Now instead our hope and pray passes are going to Deonte Thompson instead of Dez Bryant.

Yea I don't like the personnel..but you have man-to-man up top. Unless Dak doesn't have the option to audible into pass - which would be a big problem in and of itself - the QB has to identify that and go there. The system didn't do any favors, but a QB has to recognize that.

Who is going to go up and get a football?

That guy was cut.

You don't know ****. You repeat the same parrot BS every post. And now after one game you think the season is over?
And even more pathetic that Dez would have helped?

Put away your Bryant boner, it's embarrassing.

After Romo I do not know if they are willing to give their QB carte Blanche, they do not want a 3rd year qb to make their system look bad.

haha I don't know **** huh? Says the guy defending.. Wait for it.. Jason Garrett hahahaha.

The season is over because of who the coach is. It's finished.

We could go 13-3 the rest of the season and his coach style will end us in the playoffs because our players are forced to overcome the coaching and the other team as well.

This is not one game. This is a trend that started in Denver - Week 2 - last year.
It's one game. Last year doesn't have any relevance to this season unless you're looking for a negative spin. There's plenty of things to critique without making **** up.
