The NFL seriously needs to put in a rule for this
Ozzu;1695158 said:I agree. It's bush league. It's against what I consider the spirit of the game. Ok, freeze a kicker, but don't let them call it a half second before the snap. Make timeouts with less than 5 seconds in the playclock impossible to call on field goals. Problem solved.
I agree Rack. Teams have been icing the sawed off midgets chain smokers for years. I think it's smart strategy and applaud Jauron or any other coach for doing everything in their power to win for their team.Rack;1695202 said:Like I've said in a few previous threads, I have no problem with it.
It separates the men from the boys. A good team or player will kick it through the uprights regardless.
Let the rule remain just like it is.
Bizwah;1695220 said:You know....at first I agreed with most of you. The rule needs changed.
But what about this?
What happens if a team has too many players on the field and needs to call a timeout?
Would you say, "ooops...rule says that when a kicker is set, you can't call a TO."
I don't really know what can be done....a team is given three TOs. You get to use them when you need em....

adamknite;1695243 said:That's what I think. The thing I have against it is that the coach calls it purposely so that before the refs can blow the whistle and stop the play the ball is snapped and the kicker kicks it, that's cheap.
DallasInDC;1695264 said:I agree. if you are going to ice the kicker call the timeout before the play develops. don't sit there with ref and do it the split second before the play.
I must admit though, my first response after 2nd FG was *** Lauron (sp?) Take that mofo!!!!
Yep. That's the risk you take. He was smart to do it. We just happen to have a Kicker that it didn't affect...tonight. Down the road it might, and down the road we might benefit from this too.PakiPride;1695252 said:So if the kicker misses on the 1st try, but you call Timeout and he makes it the 2nd time.... isn't that Jauron putting his team in a position to lose?
So if we do it to Vinatieri next week and it works will you change your mind?Thehoofbite;1695298 said:if you want to ice the kicker, do it.
However, I think they should have to do it before the team gets set. Once the kicker and everyone is set, I think a timeout should be a no no.
