will be the 100th anniversary to the end of the great war, later renamed world war 1. My grandfather fought in trench warfare in WW1. Fortunately, I got to know him. RIP Grandfather Goodfellow and all soldiers who perished in the war. Also, a big shout out to any active or non-active-military personnel. You are the gatekeepers.

In Canada, November 11th is called Remembrance Day. The Royal Candian Legion sells poppies that we wear leading up to November 11th. The money pays for services provided veterans by the legion.

The World’s Most Famous WAR MEMORIAL POEM
By Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae (Canadian)

Lieutenant Colonel John McCraeIn Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead: Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved: and now we lie
In Flanders fields!

Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch: be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields
