THIS team, better to go into bye from W or L?

Now, dont get excited. I dont want to lose any games.

But here are possible scenarios.

Team goes into bye after a win. They relax, maybe dont practice as hard. Jerry thinks everything is ok. Wade walks around saying "3-2 is better than 2-3" etc... etc... blah blah

Team goes into bye after a loss. Their world gets turned upside down. They come out of the bye like a man on fire.

The "motivation" behind this thread is for what is best for this team, long term, THIS season.

Thoughts.
Blast away.

I think it is important for this team to win and look good doing it. After 4 weeks they have yet to put together 1 solid performance. I think players need to see results to gain confidence in what they are doing.

If they lose to KC, I envision a meltdown of epic performance, both with the team, the coaches and the fans.

If Dallas loses to KC, they would be underdogs in every game left on the slate . . .

. . . even against the skins.

BINGO!

You can learn from a loss, take some things away from it, grow from it, become more resolved, etc., but it is never BETTER to lose a game.

The Cowboys not only need to beat KC, but they need to come out of the bye and beat BOTH Atlanta and Seattle in Cowboys stadium. At 5-2 and going into games at Philly and Green Bay, we'll need the Ws.

I agree...if we don't put it together Sunday and get a win, the team will start the fingerpointing and for 2 weeks hear nothing but negative comments coming out of the press and TV. By the time we play the next game the energy level would be spent in hashing out the past

Yessir! Obviously I share the same sentiment. 3-2 and just beating the Chiefs going into a bye isn't anything to get over confident about anyways. Furthermore, losing any games are never good. We're already in a divisional race hole at 2-2.

Understood and yet you make points that I am trying to make. The latter being the big one.

They don't need 2 in a row to do that though. This team is not mentally tough we know that. That said, losing to Denver, a team better than everyone thought may be something to come out of resolved. Losing to KC, a team that is really bad would bring down the house IMO

It doesn't matter how much you learn from a loss. Learning a lot and coming together doesn't get you into the playoffs. Winning games on the road when you have controlled most of the game and lead 10-0 at one point does.

YoMick, losing is not an option. No option. Cowboys lose, season is over. The Schedule is too difficult to lose this one.

The season hinges on this game.

W, they'll have plenty of chances to rack up the L's after the bye

I hate to say it, but part of me thinks that a loss would be better long-term simply because a loss to KC will almost certainly result in the firing of Wade Phillips at some point in the next two weeks. Better to get it out of the way now instead of letting the gutless wonder try to salvage what cannot be saved and doing even more damage.

I believe we are going to win by at least 2 touchdowns because we are still an average team.

if we lose to the 0-4 Kansas City Chiefs, I have to believe that the season is over.

At that point, I think Wade Phillips will lose the team and they will hear how terrible they are all throughout the bye week.

I'm much more concerned about Atlanta than I am Green Bay.

If this team were going to learn from a loss it would have happened a long, long time ago.

As noted, it's never better to lose.

That said, as important is HOW you win or lose - and I am not talking about being a good sport. I am talking about the quality of your performance. We've all seen great football games, and they usually require both teams playing well. While on any given Sunday you can see a bad team win, and a good team lose, over the year, quality play and execution will lead to winning, and the W comes at the end of 60 minutes of football - take care of business in that 60 minutes, and more often than not, you'll get the W.

I am not looking for a W against the Chiefs, I am looking for quality play. The W will take care of itself in that case.

Our schedule is so tough down the stretch that we have to win every game possible.

Plus I think this team is lacking confidence and they need to win. Losing wouldn't help a thing right now.

When we play the Falcons in a few weeks I think that game could be a cross roads for our season.
